Although I am a 49 year old fan I know I am often mistaken for a fan in my early 20's, that said LLB997 has a point, Argonaut colours and swag are indeed very cool, always have my Argonaut cap on we need to do our best to increase the visibility of our team.
Better days ahead!
According to the recent Angus Reid poll posted in another thread, the CFL matches the NFL in popularity among 18-34 yr olds at 16%. In fact, more 55+ follow the NFL (17%) than 18-34's. So much for the NFL being popular with younger Canadians or that the NFL is more popular than the CFL amongst youths. 44% of Canadians prefer the CFL over the NFL, with 29% preferring the NFL while 28% follow both league's equally.
Put the car flag on the wheels this weekend.
I'm 30. Really liked the CFL when I was younger. High school and college saw me drift away since no one I knew followed CFL. I started following the CFL and Argos again around 2010/11. So younger people do find the CFL and find it entertaining the biggest thing against the Argos is the City of Toronto. I've said it before but there are a lot of people that only want to follow the "cool" thing or won't pay attention to leagues that pay their athletes more modestly because it is perceived as lower level.
Do I own Argo seasons? No. The reason is that of the people I know I can count the people that would be interested in attending a CFL match on one hand. It's easier to go once or twice a year with a buddy than trying to rope in someone every game. Come 2016/2017 I'd like try to get seasons with my son.
I think it will turn around when they move to BMO. It will be up to everyone (ownership, season ticket holders, casuals and couch quarterbacks) to keep it packed.
I keep an Argo and Canadian car flag on my car all year long and while I was driving today, a stranger told me how much he liked both of my car flags.
