100th Grey Cup has to top my list with the place rocking.
1989 Grey Cup between Ham and Sask. GREAT game!
Can't remember the exact game but the Blues Brothers and atmosphere with John Candy and the like there.
Hell that first year sitting in the first row of the 500 level in section 514 if I remember correctly. Those seats were amazing.
First pass I saw Flutie throw at Skydome. I thought he was crazy until his receiver turned and the ball hit him in his hands.

Other great memories include putting up 70 against Calgary. In 04 having my first trip back to TO after moving to Vancouver Island. The Argos had to reschedule a game which really screwed my trip. Keith Pelly was cool enough to get me and a buddy into a private box. The Argos just shelled Hamilton.

I would have to say the 5 seasons I was a seasons ticket holder... as I don't have enough specific occasions...

Of those 5 years... the 100th grey cup and the time in 2011 I went on the field for fan kick off ( failing horribly) and my friend Got to do the coin toss.

    1. East final 2013
    2. Blues Brothers celebrity-filled game 1991
    3. Pinball's last game
    4. TC epic collapse in 1994
    5. 1992 GC
    6. Argos /TC game in 95 ? Massotti being stripped of football before crossing goal line which would have won game iirc
    7. 2004 Semi. IIRC HAM moved ball over the 55 yd line maybe twice.
    8. 1999 HAM RB Ronald Wms. runs over Argos on Q107's Howard Stern promotion night
    9. 2005 ? Kavis Reed runs after Argo coaching staff for supposedly running up score
10.1998 ? Cory Grant tapdances in endzone after taking punt - Argo defenders wait for him to go out out bounds then Grant takes it for 100 yd. plus TD.

[1] 100th Grey Cup: if you are an Argo fan then this should be the ultimate moment for you. The 3rd Grey Cup that SkyDome hosted was the 1st that featured the Argonauts. They relied on the legs of Chad Kackert, the crisp passing of Ricky Ray and suffocating defense led by Ricky Foley to defeat the Calgary Stampeders 35-22 before over 50,000 people. The win and the crowd size at SkyDome was the high-water mark for the team in the past 20 years.

[2] 1997 Eastern Final: perhaps the greatest team in CFL history was getting a tough game from the Montreal Alouettes. Terry Baker missed a FG in the dying minutes of a 30-30 game. This gave the Argos the opportunity to drive down the field and win the game. Doug Flutie went to work running for a first down. On the next play, Flutie found Michael "Pinball" Clemons who sent the 32,000 folks at SkyDome into a frenzy as he scored the winning TD in a 37-30 Argo victory. The Grey Cup was not nearly as climactic as the cinderella Saskatchewan Roughriders were no match for the Boatmen losing 47-23.

The above are the two favorite moments I can think of that I was there for, I'll list three more events but I was not necessarily there for them.

[3] 1991 Eastern Final: Arguably the 2nd most talented Argo team in history. It featured Matt Dunigan, Mike Clemons, Paul Masotti, Darrell K. Smith, David Williams and Rocket Ismail on offense. They were backed up by a great offensive line consisting of Chris Schultz, Dan Ferrone, Ian Beckstead, Bob Skemp, Blaine Schmidt and Kelvin Pruenster. The defense was under appreciated with a solid front seven of Rodney Harding, Harold Hallman, Mike Campbell, Brian Warren, Darryl Ford, Chris Gaines, Don Moen and a ball-hawk secondary consisting of Carl Brazley, Reggie Pleasant, Don Wilson and Ed Berry. They drew the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Eastern Final. The Blue Bombers were a tough defensive team with a mediocre offense. The Blue Bombers had been trash talking in the media for much of the week leading up to the game.

The Argos thoroughly destroyed the Blue Bombers in that game. Perhaps a portent of things to come, the first play from scrimmage was a completion to Pinball where Ty Jones (the master Blue Bomber trash talker) took a face-mask penalty. The Argos won 42-3 before 50,380 people and advanced to the Grey Cup, ironically in Winnipeg, where they defeated the Stampeders 36-21.

[4]Samurai Offense: The 1990 Argos scored nearly 700 points and that was with Matt Dunigan being injured for 1/2 the year. Rickey Foggie was capable in a backup situation. The Argos had three notable games at SkyDome that year. They defeated the BC Lions 68-43. This was the first matchup between Dunigan and Flutie. It was Doug's rookie year and he struggled having to be replaced by Joe Paopao at times. Dunigan I think had a completion percentage less than 50% in this game, but it was more than good enough to win. A few weeks later the Argos exploded for 70 points against Calgary. Dunigan was hurt halfway through the game. Rickey Foggie had the game of a lifetime against Hamilton a few weeks later defeating the hapless Tiger-Cats 60-39. He threw 7, count it 7 touchdowns in that game. I don't remember the exact statistic, but I don't think he completed that many passes in the game either.

[5] 1991 Season: Bruce McNall (before everyone found out he wasn't as rich as he said he was), John Candy and Wayne Gretzky brought to the city a buzz for the Argos that hadn't been seen in 8 years since the '83 Grey Cup. They brought in the Blues Brothers to perform at the opening day and attendance at SkyDome was as good as it would ever get. The team was undefeated at home if memory serves

Honorable Mentions: the win over Calgary before the 1995 referendum, utterly destroying the Alouettes in the 96 Eastern Final, Pinball's last ride, the '04 Semi-Final against Hamilton, 48-0 over Hamilton in 2005.

In no particular order.....1991 Eastern Final,.. Kenny Wheatons 116 yard pic 6 in the 2004 Eastern Final (best night taken off work ever...thanks to the Wiggles), 1996 Eastern Final, 1997 Eastern Final & the Argos & Flutie win a shootout against the Jeff Garcia led Calgary team in the fall of 1996....lots of promotion led to a sundrenched, sold out lower bowl...

I forgot a great moment. Bashir Levingston catching a missed field goal in 04 against Calgary. He started near the back of the endzone and sort of jogged around before heading left up the sidelines running and jogging as only he could. He took it all the way for the longest td you can have.

Worst memory is my dad dying on the Skywalk on Oct 20th 1991 on the way to the game. We beat Calgary to clinch the east. I had obviously left the game with a police officer and my cousin before it started and hit the hospital. Finished watching at home inbetween calling people and receiving calls. Stangest day in my life for sure. Everything was in slow motion. I can joke about it now because hell laughter heals all.

I am sorry to hear that argoholic that must not have been fun to have witness that. I do remember better times at the skywalk walking to games and after when all the fans would be screaming aaaaaarrrrggggooooooooooosss especially after when the Argos won the 1991 Easter division final. I do remember watching that game in 1991 when they clinched 1stplace against Calgary I believe raghib Ishmail did a punt return in the game.

On my worst memory list would be 1992 when the Argos lost there first home game in like 15 games or so to the ticats and then on that same year rocket Ishmail getting in the bench clearing brawl at the Argos sideline against Calgary that seemed to be the Argos downfall for a few years. Can't remember of hand but the Eastern division final in 06 or 07 with Damon Allen as quarterback losing to Mtl. And most recently just with the crowds and how dead it was inside from an Argos persepetive. Especially the Eastern semi final game against Edmonton in 2012 where there was no one inside skydome watching the game or any type of athomshere or excitement that builded up for that 100th grey cup win. I realize that they won the game it was just amazing that we had an owner that couldn't bother to waste a single dollar into marketing or building up any type of fan base through out the season considering that the government was going to spend millions and the cfl was going to organize and have this massive event for the 100th grey cup. As well the same thing happened a year later no fans watching them and that Eastern division final in 2013 where Braley almost put the nail in coffin to how low they could go. There must have been only 12-14,000 Toronto argonaut fans that day watching the game. It's very sad and depressing to think how low they got especially with a very exciting team to watch.

Argoholic, sorry you had to go through that experience on the Skywalk, I remember you mentioning it before and often think about it when walking with my own father, drives home the fact to enjoy each day with your loved ones because who knows what tomorrow brings. Hopefully better days ahead for all at BMO!!

In 1997 (i think), they used to let you in the endzone under the jumbotron, to stand along a security fence, and get autographs prior to the game. Im a Dad with a 4yr old little boy, and 6 yr old little girl, standing and waiting for Flutie and Pinball to come sign something. Doug got them both, but we missed out on pinball. So in my infinite wisdom, i lifted my 4yr old over the fence, pen in hand, and pointed to pinball...
Well my little guy ran straight ahead in the endzone at full tilt, tugged on Marcello Simmons pants as he was stretching around the 2 yd line. Mr Simmons was nice enough to carry my son to Pinball, then bring him back to me.
I got a tongue lashing from security,(and also my 6 yr old daughter, as she wanted to run out as well)....... but also a few pic's, .....and nice memory.

Argoholic1....Many people often joke about wanting to "go" during sex, or doing something they love...while its always too soon...at least your Dad was at an event he very much enjoyed....

    1- 2012 Grey Cup
    2- 1996 East Final
    3-1997 East Final
4- 2005 East Final (despite the loss but I think crowd was 45k
5- 1996 Home Opener vs ticats - was flutie vs dunigan and biggest crowd in a couple years. Was the first game I went as a season ticket holder. I was in grade 9 and got student priced for $50 for whole season!

I know 1991 had great moments but I never saw any in person at the dome.

The field level BBQ by maple lodge were indeed great and got to meet a lot of players and ate toooons of hot dogs! I think it was only $1 to get in

A few other "minor" moments for me:

Byron Parker intercepting Travis Lulay for the winning TD in an early season game against the Lions in 2010.

Beating the Alouettes a few weeks later. After being terrible for two years it was a feel-good moment even if the 2010 team was average at best. That was one game where you thought that Cleo Lemon may have amounted to something.

Getting Pinball's autograph after he was injured in a 1994 game against the Posse.

The game vs Calgary that Allen was picked off but Robert Baker leveled the guy and then got the ball back ( and scored I believe)

I don't think Baker scored, but I still remember Chris Cuthbert's call "Trey Young...OH!" That's the same game 1argoholic mentioned regarding Levingston's punt return.

    My top 5 moments:

1997 East Final: The emotion. Flutie yelling for the crowd to help the D. Pinball in tears in the end zone. My favourite moment.
2012 Grey Cup: It felt like we were on top if the world and the whole city was talking Argonauts. Hard to believe that was only 3 years ago.
1994: "Marvin Brings the Argos Back From the Graves" was the Sun headline. I had the Sun picture of Mo Deen running over the Cats hanging in my High School locker. I was such a super fan.
1995: The Argos save Canada and beat Flutie's Stamps. Great atmosphere with so many flags flying, on poles too! After the game, Flutie was jogging to the dressing room, where a bunch of us were yelling, "come to Toronto!"
2004: The first "Kick for a Million". Argos ended up winning an amazing game against the Cats and the sold out lower bowl just went nuts when he hit that million dollar field goal. It was just an awesome night. The place can rock when it's full.

Byron made so many clutch interceptions. I can recall rising to our feet many times as the game was on the line and Parker making the play.

Yeah, he has that pick-six record I think. He even victimized Calvillo a few times.

Favorite moment at skydome from pinball Clemons on and off the field.

On the field would have been that catch for a touchdown from Doug fluite in the 1997 eastern division final. A matter of fact I would probealy say that was my favorite Argo play at skydome. Off the field I would say at the Argo home opener in 1991 I was only 12 years old at the time and was watching the players warm up I was sitting right in the corner section and pinball caught a pass and gave me and my cousin a high five and took of his arm band and gave it to me. I am sure many people would have similar type story with pinball if you went to games at skydome.

On another note as far as disappointing games I would say the last game of the season in 1995 against the Shreveport pirates when bjorn nitmo hit a long last second field goal to give the Pirates I think there first road win of the season and maybe only there second win of season.

As well I wanted to mention that I will be hoping that the new management of the team will try to bring back some of the older players that played at skydome on there last game game of the season as well as bringing back all Argo greats from the past to open bmo field up. Sort of like that big ceremony the leafs had when they closed the gardens to go into the acc. I know they did something a few years back with having a top 50 Argo players of all time at one of there games I hope they try to do something like that again.
