Yes, Lemon missed the game in Edmonton. That was the infamous "time-clock" game where the Argos ended up losing a tough one.

Man I still fired up when that "time clock" incident gets mentioned....I asked Jim Barker after he traded for Ricky Ray if he tried to aquire the Eskimos time keeper as well. He smiled & laughed.

That season might have unfolded much differently if the Argos had won that game. It is still incredible that a team can get three plays off in five seconds. That has to be some kind of record.

I don't know if it had a direct impact on the season. I just don't think the 2011 edition of the team was good enough.

I don't have a top 5 list of Skydome games, despite having attended many games, and some of them being playoff games. I was at Pinball's last game and it was somewhat memorable. I was also at Mat Dunnigan's return game after he left the Argos in 92 as well as Rickey Williams first regular season game as an Argo. But my favourite Argos Skydome memory was a meaningless July 18th 2012 game against Winnipeg. The dome was open, the air was was warm and the sky was clear. It was a weeknight, and I had won the tickets in some contest that I don't ever remember entering. My 10 year old and I went to the game, and had a blast. I just remember cheering loudly and that the Argos won on a late game or walk off field goal. There could have been 10 people or 50,000 people in attendance, it didn't matter (realistically there was probably about 22,000). It was just a great football game, and a great night to watch football. That is and will always be my favorite "in person" Skydome Argo moment.

Nice. There have been many great games that were not as significant as our listed moments. The 96 or 97 sun drenched Calgary game, that someone mentioned earlier, was a moment like yours for me.

Other games; I remember Arland Bruce weaving around the whole field for a game winning TD. Also Kerry Joseph putting together a game winning drive, I believe ending in his diving touchdown. If someone can help me recall these games properly, please do.

Ricky Ray threw the winning TD pass to Jason Barnes in the final minute or two of that game to lead the Argos to an important victory.

I can't recall, off hand, the Bruce game that you are referring to. However, I do remember the Joseph game. The Argos beat Edmonton 35-34 IIRC with Joseph engineering a 100 yard TD drive in the final minutes of that game. Tyler Scott must have had four catches on that final drive alone which was the highlight of his pro career. James Robinson also made some big catches in that game IIRC. That was one of the few highlights of what would turn into a 4-14 2008 season.

I can remember a play like this that was called back for a penalty. Bruce ran up one sideline, danced and weaved all the way to the other sideline and scored from there. It was one of the most spectacular football plays i have ever seen, even if it was called back for holding.

Another memorable play for me was the Brad Elberg flying missile tackle at the edge of the endzone on the last play that saved the single point that beat the Bombers.

    Arland Bruce for Bashir Levingston

In retrospect, one of my fondest memories was the Argo's final victory at Skydome - November 5, 2004 - a 24-6 semi-final win over the Ti-Cats in front of close to 40,000 fans. Not only was it a good game and a great victory, which led up to Argos winning the Grey Cup, but it was end of Skydome for Argos - the end of an era of comparative innocence. Rogers were about to buy the stadium and rename it Rogers Scenter - and begin in earnest the era of trying to destroy the Argos.
One oar still in the water !

That must be the play Rich. If it was called back, that must have been heartbreaking for us. I just remember the play though. He was at the West sideline (visitor first) and it looked like he juked/dodged the whole team as he made is way towards myself sitting on the other side, turned the corner and scored. Do recall if they won the game or not?

I don't know if I can put these in any specific order other than to say that the 2012 Grey Cup has to be #1. The other five SkyDome moments that stick out in particular are the 2004 East semi-final, the 1991 East Final, the 1997 East Final, the 1996 East Final and Pinball's Final Run in September of 2000. I witnessed the three from 2000 onwards in person and the three from the 1990s on TV.

I recall leaving the stadium after Pinball's final game against Saskatchewan. I was ticked that they lost, but moreso because the defence was consistently fooled by the worst Pump Fakes I have ever seen displayed by Henry Burris.

I believe the Argos needed to win that game to remain in playoff contention. However, they did not get the help they needed and they missed the playoffs. I think this is also the same game where Kerwin Bell spiked himself.

Yes, you are correct about all of that. Winnipeg made the playoffs that year (2000) ahead of the Argos only because they lost a game in OT and received a point for it. That rule was changed a couple of years later.

The Argos were 1-6-1 when Pinball took over from Huard as head coach and 1-7-1 after Labour Day but ended up going 6-3 in the second half of the season. Much like last season, a strong second half was too little, too late unfortunately.

Yeah I remember having a few of those favorite "in person" moments. I remember in 1992 I used to always go to games with a few friends from high school. One game was against the Winnipeg blue bombers we showed up maybe 8 hours before kickoff for the game because Wayne Gretzky was signing autographs at the new grand opening of Toronto Argonauts end zone store on front street they had rocket Ishmail signing one day and another with pinball Clemons. We didn't end up getting no autograph because the line up must have been 2 or 3 blocks. But the football game was fun to go to with the roof open on a beautiful sunny August day with the Argos winning. One thing with skydome I found it isn't to bad of a place to watch a game when the roof was open besides the slope of the seats and angles not being the greatest. Another game that year in 1992 which was a lot of fun to go to was the game against Ottawa they came back to win that game with close to 45,000 fans in the stands. I just couldn't imagine with the crappy athomshere at skydome the last few years in large part to David Braley and Chris rudge that they ever got young people into getting excited and into the games like how they had me and my friends.

After going over the results since 1989, I came up with 15 games that to me are the most memorable and/or exciting in SkyDome/RC history. Here they are in chronological order with my top five in bold:

1990 BC 43 Toronto 68 -- Teams combine for most points in a CFL game
1990 Ham 39 Tor 60 -- Rickey Foggie with seven TD passes and 100 yards rushing
1991 Ham 18 Tor 41 -- Rocket's first game plus Blues Brother, Mariel, etc.
1991 Wpg 3 Tor 42 -- Argos dominate their rivals in the Eastern Final
    1994 Ham 36 Tor 39 -- Marvin Graves keys massive fourth-quarter comeback
1996 Ham 38 Tor 36 -- Untelevised shootout between Flutie and Dunigan
1996 Cal 22 Tor 23 -- Two long TD plays by Jet and Masotti in the fourth quarter
1997 Mtl 30 Tor 37 -- Late heroics by Pinball and Flutie to win Eastern Final
2002 Cal 32 Tor 33 -- Prefontaine kicks us into the playoffs on last play
2004 Ham 6 Tor 24 -- Kenny Wheaton runs the length of the field to wrap up Eastern Final victory
2005 Ham 0 Tor 48 -- Just because we beat the Ticats 48-0
    2005 Ham 11 Tor 34 -- Brian Diesbourg kicks for a million
2012 Ham 40 Tor 43 -- Argo fourth-stringers put Ticats out of the playoffs
2012 Edm 26 Tor 42 -- Ricky Ray runs in a TD en route to huge early lead
2012 Cal 22 Tor 35 -- Loudest crowd ever in 100th Grey Cup
