I rarely post but i do enjoy reading these blogs. I am a seasen ticket holder for years with two friends. We plan to get together to watch the opener but want to go to a spot with other fans. Location doesn't matter as we come from various areas of the GTA. Does Shoeless joes on King st still have viewing parties

I like it. That is almost the exact starting secondary I had predicted, with the exception of Agnew, who at the time was hurt. I also precicted a similar receiving core, but thought Hazelton would start over Elliott. I think Elliott has more speed. If King starts, then they have a great back up in Wayne Smith.

Hawkins may well start at HB when he's healthy, but I like the idea of going with more experienced guys (who are familiar with "the waggle") at half if possible.

I'm assuming that since we didn't put King on the IR, he's healthy enough to start. If so, I'd start him. Barker described Smith as our #6 OL, and you don't start your #6 unless someone is hurt or there is a ratio issue.

Presumably either Whitaker or Kackert will dress, but I still see Josey as the game 1 starter.

It looks like a great lineup to me. Mind you, I think I felt the same way about our 2014 opening day chart, right up until the point when Winnipeg crushed us...

    Caught Jim Barker with Hogie on TSN this evening. I think you're close, but I'll offer;

AJ- Devin Smith - Gabriel - Branden Smith - AK
    Issac - Jones - Greenwood
    Foley - Robertson - Laing - Okpalaugo

Campbell - Holmes - Keeping - Van Roten - Van Zeyl
    Gurley - Owens - Elliott - Hazelton
    Josey - Durie
    Harris

    >Expect AJ, and CO to join Diontae Spencer on the Return Team
    >Expect Wayne Smith to join A. Dupuis in the 2-TE set (filling in for Zander)
    >Tonye-Tonye takes Zanders spot on Teams
    >Expect Brandon Whitaker in the lineup
    >still up in the air on Robertson/or Cummings
    >Jerriel King to 1 game IR

What kind of crowd are they expecting at this game played in the wilderness?

Full house of 20,000+, almost entirely Eskimo fans for our "home" game.

There was a media report out of Saskatchewan last week that only 4k tickets had been sold as of that point. Hopefully ticket sales pick up this week although it will hardly be a home game for the Argos regardless.

I think capacity is about 15,000. Just under 10,000 announced for the Edmonton/Saskatchewan game which was kind of surprising. We were lead to believe it was going to be a sell out. Hope the game sells out Thursday, but the Argos are guaranteed a profit plus their expenses so Braley should be smiling.

I hope this game sells more tickets than the media reports are suggesting. Even though it's not a great shake for the Argos, especially considering the team's brutal schedule, I like the idea of a game in Fort Mac. It's all about showcasing the game across Canada early in the season. I just wish the Double Blue were not involved. Makes no sense.

We will win, regardless. Next year, Calgary's home opener will be against the RedBlacks in Tobermory, Ontario. They'll call it the Battle upon the shores of Lake Huron!

Looking at Edmonton's o-line I really think the Argos front 4 can slap Riley around. Andrew Jones and Paul Sorensen at guards should be beaten with regularity.

I'm on record (many times) as judging Smith a backup at best, but regardless of that I thought Van Roten played well in the game at Varsity.

If they go 2 INT on the OL then i'm convinced they will start 2 NAT receivers.

I thought Natey Adjei had a great preseason, was getting open and made some tough catches. They'll rotate Coombs through there, or else use the NAT slot for Dupuis and coach even mentioned Gillanders at HBack as the situation dictates, and drop another INT into the wide side slot when that happens.

It is interesting that they put Stala on the active roster and not the practice roster, which I think tips their hand about the 2nd NAT REC whether he is ready to play or not.

I get the impression that "a former Canadian football running back for the Toronto Argonauts" named Kackert and Josie will be the RBs. If so, what modification would be likely elsewhere in the lineup for this game?

There are now 20 NATs on the roster, still one short of the minimum. I would guess that Herbert will be added for this game.

One INT has to come off the 46 and three off the 44. Probably King or Van Roten, plus Rolle and one d-lineman (Wright or Cummings, I would guess).
