Lemme take a crack at that. Tom Trifaux, Tony Antunovic, Ian Beckstead, Dan Ferrone, Kelvin Pruenster?

Chris Shultz came in 1986 moving Pruenster to RT. Ferrone at LG, Beckstead at Center. Antunovic at RG? That was a good all Canadian O Line.

Too many new players so I predict a loss. We could be in tough this year with so many new guys to the CFL. Oh well hopefully they can grow as a team very fast.

on the bright side the east should be wide open this year.

MOntreal and Ottawa both looked terrible last night. I know first game but still. Hank was throwing some absolute ducks, the Ottawa defence was very weak, Montreal's offence is a mess (especially if they are going to have to go Bridge or Lefeveour next week). Hard to tell Montreal's D given how bad I think Ottawa's offence is.

That tale out of the way we will see about Hamilton but they are getting rocked by injuries and will be playing catchup by the halfway point like we are (slew of away games at the start) - I see us at worst as the #2 team in the East and we will see from there.

That said we are in tough this game and would be very, very lucky to pull out a W. However I like our secondary and d-line and think the D should be up to the task.

I'll remember this message for the potential future errors if things go sour.....

I just watched the '83 Eastern Final agains this past weekend. Loved that team. Thanks again Paul!!

On a side note...Pat Marsden really sucked as a PBP guy.

The Argos could easily "start" 10 or more NIs this season: 4 O-linemen (from amongst Keeping, Holmes, Van Zeyl, Smith, Sewell), 2 receivers - Durie & Adjei (or Stala); or Coombs at tailback = would be 6 or 7 on offence; then Foley, Laing/Waud, Greenwood, Gabriel + even Matt Black somewhere in the D-backfield.

Agreed, OV. I would love to see the league go back to a roster setup where 10 Canadians started but, unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed.

Ravi - that ship has sailed and long sunk. Could you picture any of the current GOBs or the new American Commish lobbying for more Canadian content in this "radical" league ?

The CFLPA never should have given up those three starting spots back in 1996. Once they gave those spots up, they were lost for good. I can't recall the CFLPA bigwig at that time - Stu Laird maybe - that has admitted recently what a huge mistake that they made.

Not quite. Trifaux started in the Grey Cup at LT but was replaced by Pruenster when he got injured. Ferrone was at LG, Mike Hameluck at RG and John Malinosky at RT. Beckstead was with the team but was not a regular starter until the following season.

And it took him until '87 ( I think he was out of football or injured in '86) to become a high quality starter. Before that he took way too many holding penalties.

Not sure he'd get that much extra time to develop in today's football.

He also played for a year or two at least in Ottawa before arriving in Toronto.

King is the only guy to start the season on the 1 game IR.

So... we do indeed go with only one NAT receiver. Spencer and Moore are both on the PR, so we must be confident in AJ and Coombs as our returners.

Depth chart shows 22 INTs (other than QB) so two have to come off. I assume one d-lineman plus Rolle. Can't see any others likely to come off the 44.

Agreed. Maybe next week we'll only dress one INT RB, but not yet.

I'm hearing Whitaker will be starting. Argos depth chart has always been a little off sometimes unless Milanovich will give both the ball and goes with whoever is looking good. The article I read made no mention of Josey.

Argos really need to make sure Coombs gets adequate playing time. I would really hate to see him leave as soon as his first contract comes to an end. I'm sure by that point he will just be looking for an oportunity to start somewhere.

From what I have been reading, the plan seems to be to get Coombs on the field a lot at various positions.

Keeping is injured. Smith will go RG, with Van Wroten moving to C.
