i posted in the other but i think both these teams are a bit of a mess for different reasons....

Ottawa's D looked terrible. Hank looks brutal (I have to think Demarco is starting by the end of the season) and Montreal well seemingly being all in for this year with all the veteran acquisitions doesn't look too good either (especially on offence where i expected them to at least be decent.

I didn't see much of the game but I noticed in what I did see, plus the highlights, that Ottawa laid at least three or four ferocious hits on Mtl QBs. Two guys knocked out of the game -- was Ottawa's D really terrible?

I didn't think so. I thought their D looked all right, especially Capicotti, who was a beast at DE. Montreal is running a lot of empty backfield sets, which to me isn't all that smart.

IMO, both of those teams have issues at QB.

The refs are really stinking up the joint in Calgary tonight.....questionable rough play calls against the Stamps....

Not that I'm complaining, but no idea what the Cats were thinking throwing deep on 2nd down with 53 seconds left. If they run the ball they take off another 20 seconds and Calgary doesn't have enough time to get into FG range at the end.

High powered Cats offence produces 6 points.

    That's a shame.

Calgary just finds ways to win games they have no right winning. Bo wasn't typical Bo tonight trying to not as much as force balls in but guide or drop them in but had three picks.I guess the deep one he didn't see the defended in the endzone. He only had eight all last year.

    Collaros looked very good.

Collaros was okay but he only led the offence to 8 points, including two punt singles, which is not very good at all.

Agreed. With Calgary having no timeouts and less than a minute on the clock, the Ticats were really stupid for not running it on 2nd down. Running off clock is more important than getting the first down in that situation. If the Ticats run for a first down, game over; if not, they punt and the Stamps have about 25 seconds left. The Ticats also snapped the ball with too much time left on the play clock at least once on their last drive. That was clock management right out of the 70s -- when there was no clock management.

Also wasted a defensive performance by the Ticats that was more than good enough to win.

One of my pet peeves in recent years is that nobody seems to know how to manage the clock anymore. Poor clock management in that final minute probably did cost Hamilton the game last night although I am not complaining about it.

Austin might be the worst at it. His belief that he's an offensive genius has hurt his team.

Rod Black must have gone to the same medical school as the late great wresting announcer Gorilla Monsoon in describing a players torn ACL as a "torn lateral collateral ligament" injury, the guy is a complete baffoon!!
The guy has diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain.

Four games into the season, three starting QBs and one backup injured. Plus one starter who is still rehabbing an injury from last season. Really, really bad news for the league. Fortunately Harris looks like a player, but Montreal and Edmonton could be facing some serious challenges. And then there's everyone's least favourite backup, Kevin Glenn . . .

Was just about to post the same thing. Will be interesting to see what Montreal and Edmonton do.

Honestly, I know people don't like Glenn, but I'd rather have him than what Montreal has and Nichols in Edmonton.

If Lulay goes down I think BC is really big trouble.

This is Nichols' "make or break" year in Edmonton. IIRC, he is in his fourth year in the league just like Harris, Collaros and, I believe, Willy. Nichols looked very good good back in his rookie season, then suffered two severe injuries with the second one forcing him to miss the entire 2013 season before coming back with a tentative performance last season.

Glenn is what he is - your quintessesntial .500 QB although he did do better than that while in Calgary. If he is the Riders' #1 QB though, I see a 9-9 season ahead for them. They could do worse but they aren't going to win a Grey Cup with him.

Durant out for the season, that's got to sting. Sucks to see all these starting QBs going down. Aside from the injuries, the first week of the season didn't disappoint.

Except for the attendance at Fort Mac. Wow.

Why wasn't this game put somewhere at a local university in the Toronto area?

Considering our extremely crappy schedule and having to go through a lame duck season under this ownership, playing far from home might end up being better for team building and morale.

Anyway, what's done is done, and we should finally get back to much saner scheduling starting next season.

If they really wanted to make this an Argos "home" game, they should have played in Calgary, where at least the crowd would have hated Edmonton.
