Aaargh. There is an epidemic of injuries around the league this year, and many of them are to starting (and key) Nationals. We are now missing three of our required seven NAT starters: Greenwood, Gabriel and Durie. And earlier we were without Keeping. And natural replacements for some of these guys -- Coombs, Miles and Robinson -- have also been either on the IR or seem to be heading there. Every team's depth is being tested and now ours is really being tested. I guess we start Yurichuk at LB or, if Black returns this week, start Rolle in place of Greenwood.

The appearance of Antwi is definitely not a good sign. Sigh.

I would definitely have no problems starting Yurichuk. Every time he plays on D, he plays great.

Noticed too that Chris Bauman is not longer on the PR, but listed on the active roster....wonder if Antwi's release means Greenwood is back Friday? Not likely though.

Milanovich did say "questionable" on Greenwood, but I doubt it considering he said that Greenwood hadn't taken part in any vigorous activity.

So, Johnson finally became healthy enough to release. It's fortunate that so many other guys worked out, and we didn't end up needing him.

He was in practice jersey but not taking part and wearing sunglasses at today's practice. I would say he definitely is out for Friday.

The wire indicates that we put Underwood on the *Suspended* list yesterday.

Here's something I don't understand. When we originally 6-gamed him back on July 12, the transaction was listed as: "TOR TRF TO INJURED INT Brandon UNDERWOOD (DB) Cincinnati - to Aug-27^^ (Aug-15)". The August 27th date is consistent with missing six games. But what does the (Aug-15) part mean? That date is almost upon us and it may explain why he was suspended, but I don't know what it actually refers to. Anyone?

Honestly I have always found CFL transactions to be a bit confusing. I thought Underwood was only expected to be out a couple games. Now he has left the team. Hope he returns.

Surely this is not the same as last year?! Didn't he get suspended around this time?

It was pretty close to this time last year that the trouble revolving around Underwood happened. He went back to the U.S. to visit one of his kids and didn't know where to go for practice when he returned, according to him. It is possible that he has left in the last couple of days with the team's permission but they still put him on the suspended list until he returns.

The thing is, he was already on the six game IR. It's not like we needed to suspend him to retain his rights.

It can't be related to the CFL's new policy regarding domestic violence, can it? Surely there would have been an announcement. However, from that article:

"That means there still isn't a league-wide policy on whether players who have previous allegations of violence against women can play in the CFL or will face any CFL punishment for those actions, and that's something that has been a significant deal in the past. At least four CFL players last year had faced past domestic violence accusations; one of those (Argos' DB Brandon Underwood) is still playing in the league and hasn't faced CFL punishment. Orridge's comments make it sound like the league will address past histories on a case-by-case basis rather than a policy basis, which isn't necessarily a bad approach given the complexities of the issue and the vastly-differing situations out there."

I don't actually remember any discussion of Underwood being accused of domestic violence last year. Is this just coming out now?

There was a big New York Times article last November, while Underwood was on the Calgary practice roster, which details the allegations against him while he was in the NFL: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/18/sp...=top-news&_r=2

This is what I thought as well. Maybe he has some court dates to attend.

Last year when the Underwood dismissal happened, promising LB Antwon Moulden suddenly retired at the same time. Those 2 sudden losses really hurt the defence IMO.

It's not clear whether Thomas Miles is actually *healthy* yet, but he came off the 6 game IR this week (and we didn't put him back on).

He was practicing last week when I was there, full dressed, but running offensive routes to practice cover schemes for the starting D.
