He has looked very good to me. When they get Keeping back and move VR to guard the line should be that much stronger.

    Excellent observation.

Not yet. The original plan was to have them there but when Keeping went down VR moved to centre, opening up a spot for Wayne Smith.

Most of those sacks were coverage sacks so I wouldn't fault the oline for it.

In terms of "Pure Entertainment", this game is going to be tough to beat.

I watched it again this morning on PVR, it was that good

Furthermore, those coverage sacks are also reflected in another important stat: Harris has only a 1.5% interception rate, indicating he isn't throwing the ball into danger to avoid a sack.

Here are the video highlights of the game in case any one missed the classic ending, as I did because of a crazy incident described in post #149:

It was also nice to see Trevor Harris throw the ball down the field at times, and I hope we see more of that when the team is in less urgent situations. I don't think it is a coincidence that our running game has been better and used more over the first two games of this season and the Argos won both games. There were fewer carries in this game for Whitaker than in the first game, but we mixed it up a bit with a few carries for other players. Josey only had one carry. I'm not sure why...?

Andre Durie left the game with an injury, hopefully there is no structural damage to his knee and he'll be back at some point. That being said, I wish we still had Anthony Woodson, as that would be two national players along with Anthony Coombs who can play Durie's position. With Durie injured, we are only one injury away from having to change our offensive scheme somewhat at that position.

I like that Chad Owens did not return kicks this game (I believe?) as I think we can find someone younger who does that job better and allows us to lessen the risk of injury for Owens, who is too valuable as a slotback. That said, although you don't see constant injuries to kick returners, I feel Anthony Coombs may be too valuable in other areas to use in that role long-term, even more so with Durie's injury. Surely with all the players in the U.S.A. and Canada we can find one or two kick returners who can play--other teams seem to. Maybe we can bring Kevin Bradfield back?

I also feel the Argos could use a bigger RB to complement Whitaker. Jerome Messam would look really good in an Argonaut uniform right now. Someone who can complement a smaller RB, get tough yards when needed and make bigger plays as well, as Messam can. Anthony Woodson maybe could have done that, and I think Jerome Messam definitely could have done that for Toronto and is quite a dynamic player.

What was that duo in Winnipeg called? Wasn't it "Thunder and Lightning?" The one of the amazing Charles "Blink" Roberts and the awesome Mike Sellers who played so well in Winnipeg back in the early 2000s. Something like that could really diversify our offensive attack. Maybe an undrafted CIS player could help provide the large RB or a more dynamic FB role. I realize Mike Sellers was I believe listed as a FB, but most fullbacks aren't as dynamic as he was, that's for sure.

It was mentioned on the radio on TSN 1050 that Matt Black had a great game. Was he at corner back in this game at all, or did he replace Gabriel at safety? I'm not sure how much of the game he played on defence. It's great to hear that he played really well and that he got a chance to show what he can do. He's a good player. I hope our injured players will be fine.

The thought crossed my mind as well, especially with the rookie kicker.
The new rules will make these decisions tougher to make and keep things much more interesting!

Personally, I would have gone for the '2' on the previous touchdown. but then that's why they call us fans, not coaches.

On a side note, I am very pleased to see that the Depth Chart for the Saskatchewan game has now been posted on argonauts.ca
