Coach Milanovich Update: July 19, 2015

Scott Milanovich spoke to the media today:

I hope his injury isn't serious. Two Canadians at the same position go down in the same week. Do the Argos insert Waud in at DT in front of Cummings now?

King isn't bad, but I really like the way that Campbell has started the season.

The game was definitely winnable, but great teams like Calgary find a way to pull it out. The Argos need to reach that level.

A lot of improvement, yes, but again the D-Line couldn't take advantage of the Stamps having both their tackles out of the game. Also, how much did that play into Calgary not going as deep as they did in the first half?

Good news. Fortunately, Pfeffer is capable.

With Black out, it'll be interesting to see what we do with the ratio this week. Since Keeping *must* be healthy by now we'll probably go with four NATs on the OL, but it's possible that we'd rather start Stala or Adjei in place of Elliot or Gurley in order to keep van Roten in the lineup. Or... neither, and just go with only 7 NATs temporarily.

I don't see a scenario where an import receiver comes out of the starting lineup. They can start 3 NATs (Keeping, Holmes, Van Zeyl) on the o-line plus Coombs/Dupuis/Gillanders and then Foley, Laing and Greenwood on defence with Waud rotating into the defensive line. Tonye-Tonye and perhaps Herbert can see some more defensive snaps. They should still be okay with the ratio although it would become more challenging if yet another NAT goes down.

So you would Whitaker out? I would go with 4 Canadians on the o line

When Pfeffer is naturally replaced by Swayze, the best PK/P in the league, unless he is placed on the disabled list or active roster there is a chance we could lose him to say Winnipeg or the Riders if they are looking for the future.

Hopefully the Argos find a way to keep him, great insurance policy to say the least.

They don't need to do that, do they? They can start three Canadians on the o-line plus the slotback/fullback spot and then three Canadians on defence which gives them seven starters. That doesn't give them much flexibility but I would not take Whitaker out and I certainly would not remove one of the talented rookie import receivers. If they want a little more flexibility, then start four Canadians on the offensive line.

I think they should give Herbert a shot at safety. If he's terrible they can put an import in there and go back down to seven NATs. I definitely would keep two INTs on the o-line at this point. Van Roten has been very strong.

Sure, Swayze is the best, but he's older, more expensive and now has an injury history. Why not get rid of your star for the likes of an unproven youngster? It's all about the future, isn't it AT? Can't let another one slip away,,,

I see the comparison here AZ!!
But not with Swayze he is the best in the league by a wide margin, with our former Justin Medlock as second.

IMO, Medlock is the best FG kicker. Waters is the best dual purpose kicker.

I was thinking the same thing about Herbert starting at safety. Back him up with Eric Black. I gather Keeping will go this week?

Wow I'm going to buy a lottery ticket as we finally agree.
