Go at 'em, boys. Beat the hell out of each other (*) while the Argos rethink, repair, and replace.

Alouettes have four point lead in fourth quarter over Hamilton

S.J. Green's third-quarter touchdown and a fourth quarter FG are the difference with 5 minutes to go in the fourth, as the Alouettes lead Hamilton 17-13.

This weekend is highlighted by a couple rematches from Week 3, both of which were very notable in their results. The first rematch sees an upstart team trying to bounce back from its first loss of the season, a game lost very emphatically. The second rematch is the one most eyes will be on, thanks to the record of one of the teams involved. ...

    Rematch part one
The Edmonton Eskimos hammered the Ottawa REDBLACKS last week. It was a game that wasn’t close and it was huge for an Esks team that was not happy with how it opened the season in Week 1. Matt Nichols gets his second start of the season at quarterback and Edmonton’s defence will try to force mistakes like it did last Thursday night. But I have to say, with no offence intended to the Eskimos, that I’m far more interested in their opponent on Friday.
How will the REDBLACKS respond to their first loss of the season? After looking really nice in starting its 2015 campaign 2-0, Ottawa came crashing down with a 46-17 setback at Commonwealth Stadium. I fully believe the REDBLACKS are a much-improved team when compared to a year ago, but how will they face their first adversity of the season? A nice response at home to Edmonton, regardless of the final result, will continue to affirm that theory.

    Rematch part two

When the Lions and Riders meet at Mosaic Stadium on Friday night, I’m curious to see the desperation level of the home side. For the third time this season, Saskatchewan lost a heartbreaker last weekend in the first of this back-to-back set with BC. Led by quarterback Travis Lulay, the Lions clawed back to tie things late before beating the Riders 35-32 in overtime.

The Riders are now 0-3 to start the season, and they have every right to be frustrated by it. They’ve been close in every game, and twice they’ve lost in overtime. But that doesn’t hide the most important fact heading into Week 4: Saskatchewan has to defend better. Lulay lit the Riders up through the air and they allowed 30 or more points for a third straight game. Are these early season defensive growing pains? Or is there reason to be really worried? Friday night will help us make that determination.

I took Montreal, Ottawa, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg in the CFL pick-um on CFL.ca....oh damn...that reminds me, I forgot to play this site's pick-um this week. Oh well, hopefully I can still get 3 right.

**Edit** I guess I'm out for this week. Can't make picks once the first game starts.

I picked Montreal, Ottawa, Saskatchewan and Calgary this week in my pool (the oldest CFL prediction pool on the Internet).

Fred Stamps is all washed up, huh ? I'm not saying t hat he can do that every week but he had a great game against the Pussycats. What is going on with CFL.ca, not that I have ever criticized that 'fine' site. Montreal wins and they are promoted in the standings ahead of the Argos and behind the RB's - yes, I know that they all have 4 points, but Montreal has played an extra game. Not important, but certainly not professional either.

It'll be interesting to see how Stamps does the rest of the season. I had him pegged at about (or at least) 40% into the downside of his career. Lewis has impressed so far and I did not expect that at this stage of his career.
As for cfl.ca, it's a rather miserable effort.

I thought Hamilton would win, had Argos/Stamps a toss up, and I'll take Edmonton and BC.

Stamps had a good game, but he is definitely on the downside of his career.
Sadly, all I heard in my head all night as I was trying to sleep, was the shrieking voice of Rod Black repeating "vintage Fred Stamps" every time he caught a pass.

Black may have been at his most horrible worst (that's right..most horrible worst) last night. After Bede made his 53 yard FG, you would think that he set a world record or something.

With Reilly out for an estimated ten weeks, Edmonton may be upset this weekend, especially with the game being in Ottawa where the fans are still rabid for the new franchise.

I'll pick Saskatchewan over BC since they're playing in front their fanatic fans and the Riders have got to catch a break sometime, especially after they lost the last two games in overtime after leading for much of the game.

B.C. Lions’ Austin Collie making an impact as he develops chemistry with Travis Lulay
Austin Collie came to the B.C. Lions with a well-known NFL resume, albeit one shortened by serious injuries. Having decided to come up north this off-season, it hasn’t taken much time at all for the former Indianapolis Colt to make an impact on the Canadian game.
Born in Hamilton, Ont., which gives the receiver national status, Collie has already caught two touchdown passes, with 11 catches in total for 149 yards.
    http://metronews.ca/news/vancouver/1...-travis-lulay/

His national status could give the Lions a big bonus if he stays healthy.

Kevin Glenn has several strengths as a QB, but clock management is not one of them. Even after the three minute warning, down by two scores, he's awfully... "methodical".

The disturbing thing for Riders fans is that Glenn is playing as well as they could possibly hope for and yet they are still 0-4. Hard to imagine that the Riders can do any better than .500 this season and they will really have to work to get to that level. Furthermore, their home games are front loaded this season and they have already squandered three of them.

CFL Officiating managed, when all is said and done, to gift BC the win. What a brutal defensive pass interference call in the end zone.

~ 0-6 could see the Sask HC fired.
