Only a week away! We ended up with a pretty short break (which isn't really a problem this early in the season).

More than enough time to prepare for this game. By comparison, in August we'll have a short week @ Winnipeg and an even shorter week @ Edmonton. More terrible scheduling.

It certainly isn't a short break in the general sense. It is, however, short for a bye week.

do the argos move practices times when they go out to west to play these 10pm games? I know the lions intentionally try to schedule all the old big four teams at 10 or 10:30 to gain an advantage.

We have had the shortest bye weeks the past few seasons, a spinoff effect of our terrible schedules. The players don't get a full wk to recharge. It sucks but hopefully next year the schedule will be more appropriate.

I'll add a short week for our real home opener too. Monday in Hamilton, Saturday home to Saskatchewan.

Argos benefit from initial success of new corners

AJ Jefferson and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah have contributed to the Argo's success up to this point, although they have made rookie mistakes at times, and could help defeat BC.

To put it in perspective, Calgary hasn't had a bye week yet but they had as long of a break between their second and third games as the Argos will have between their third and fourth games and yet this is what constitutes Toronto's bye week.

I hope our DL was watching the BC/Sask game. I think our secondary and LBs can handle BC's receivers, and our offense should be OK, but containing Lulay+Harris on the ground will be challenging.

Always have issues playing in Vancouver. We won last year for the first time in years. They never won the whole time we lived there. We can't keep giving up the long ball and BC seems pretty good at tossing it.

I'm more worried about Lulay running than Harris. Argos have held opposing running backs to 45 carries for 186 yards (4.13 avg). Those are remarkable numbers in the CFL.

What worries me more than stopping the run, is being alert for screen passes. Those can really turn into big gains. Bottom line, the Argos need to get more pressure on the QB. If they do, I think their overall D will be very good.

Mitchell burned us too many times rolling out or escaping the pocket. We can't let Lulay do that.

Sucks that Martez Wilson got hurt. He was primed for a big season based on his camp.

The loss of Tracey Robertson hasn't helped either although, as AV has said, the problem hasn't been with the defensive tackles but the ends. The last I read about Wilson is that his career may be over.

Despite facing a few juggernauts in BC's D, we won't have any problems scoring. It's Lulay and the Lions offence I'm worried about.

It definitely has the makings of a game where one should take the over.

I have been vocal about my dislike for Frank Zicarelli's writings (I guess it's more his lack of knowlege), but he had a killer line in his article today.

    http://www.torontosun.com/2015/07/20...nto-game-in-bc

GM Jim Barker and head coach Scott Milanovich have been signed by the club’s new regime, even though, technically speaking, Braley can fire both this season.

    In theory, it can happen.

From a practical perspective, it won’t because that means Braley would have had to dip into his pockets to find replacements, which is akin to Rogers Sportsnet providing some kind of coverage of the Argos that doesn’t involve a controversy.
Rogers agenda is so blatantly obvious, even the media is not afraid to point it out publically.

nice find Angelo - old Frank is getting a little more liberal with the zingers this year I've noticed. Anyhow nothing inaccurate about this one.

sportsnet is a bush league channel plain and simple. I watch jays games on there but their over the top praise of the players is too much, the jays are barely .500 - not exactly deserving of praise minus a few guys.

Shows how much Rogers actually talks about The Argos when I e-mailed Brad Fay before the news to BMO came down. He just said that no one talks about The Argos. No one in the Rogers Sportsnet office.
I've known Brad since meeting him at Grey Cup in 1990 well before his Sportsnet days. Great guy who loves the CFL and his Lions.

fair enough on Brad Fay but on the flipside I'd say no one watches sportsnet connected - if given the choice everyone I know goes SportsCentre, it's not even close.

    Anyhow enough on that....

Argos will be in tough as always with this late start (next year we should start scheduling BC at 1pm on a Saturday - i don't see why not) combined with matt black's injury (i'm missing another injury or two here I'm sure but being down 2 nationals at safety hurts)

I think this team can pull out the W though. A W here and I think it carries to another one next week in Edmonton. A 4-1 start heading into Hamilton for August 3 would be out of this world. I also realize I am being wayyyyy too optimistic here (as usual)
