Great to see our rookie to see our Argo receivers really come through with Elliott going 6/81, Gurley 5/71 and Hazelton 4/37.

Coombs also had a nice night with 4 receptions for 34 yards, as well as helping the offence by getting 15 yards on a face mask penalty.
A.J Jefferson did a great job of shutting down Arceneaux tonight. Devin Smith also continues to impress me at HB. 65 passing yards for Lulay after the 1st quarter.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
Great come from behind victory! Tremendous resolve and adjustments made after that disastrous first quarter. Enough of these 4th quarter come backs though, next week I want to see them win outright!
Going into the game, Trevor Harris ranked first in QB ratings with 121.5 (other than Durant's 137.5 but that was only on 18 passes in part of a game). Trevor's 30/40 for 340 yards puts him fourth in passing yardage with 1177 yards, almost a 300 yards average per game. Quite a job for a guy with only 5 starts in his career.
Great catch by Chad Owens on the last touchdown drive. It seems like the Argos are feeding off of each other and are wanting to win for one another. Great team victory! I'd love to see a better return game though. It's lacking on both punt and kickoffs.
The turning point in the game was Tedford's decision to go for it on third and four. Instead of pinning the Argos deep on a punt, the Argos got the ball at midfield, drove for a TD and two pointer to come within to points of the Lions after being down 21-0.
This was an awesome thread to read. Best soap opera in a long time.
LOL..I was thinking the same thing. Nothing like a game day thread for serious mood swings, and knee jerk reactions.
Funny, in the past I read that Milanovich and his staff were horrible at making in game adjustments. I really think that people just didn't take enough stock int the fact that ownership had this teams hands tied.
Argo57, I agree with you 100% about the 15 yard penalty Issaac took. It was the first good hit on Lulay all game, and he wasn't the same after that. The hit was late, but not dirty in terms of no head shot or low blow. Great game changing play by a vet player.
Harris really showed a lot last night. I feel quite confident in him should Ray not be the same after the shoulder injury heels. BUT, I am dying to see how a healthy Ray can perform with THIS group of receivers. Argos definitely need to extend Harris sooner rather than later. Zach who???
Great game by Darryl Waud. He looks like he may have been the steal of the draft.
Greg Jones out performed both of BC's high profile linebackesrs. He was an absolute beast, as was the rest of the D after the 1st quarter.
Officiating continues to be suspect. The late hit on Jason Vega was totally BS, and gave the Lions a chance to stay in the game. He had already committed to the hit before Lulay had released the ball, and hit him mid body. Nothing about that hit deserved a penalty. Also Greg Jones was clipped in what looked like a worse clip than the one King was flagged for, but no call. That was definitely from behind, while King's was more from the side. King deserved to be flagged, but so should the Lions have been.
It's us vs the rest of the country
I agree the call on Vega was borderline but it's the type of call they usually make in terms of protecting the quarterbacks (not that I agree with it but we'e seen it called in other circumstances). What I did like was Vega's hustle to put pressure on him and force Lulay into a bad throw - along with putting another lick on him for good measure!
The Argos D was solid in the second half. I'll give props to Creehan, since he seems to be the popular punching bag. Similar to the Calgary game, the opposing team comes out firing and the Argos look overwhelmed. Yet again, the Argos figure them out for the second half. If they could just reduce the initial onslaught, this D will shape up fine in time.
How a youngish qb like Harris can pull it together like he did was amazing. They mentioned during the telecast that Harris knows he's Ray's backup. Great team guy and it seems like this is a true team who play for each other. The rookie receivers all play with such passion and a will to win.
What can you say about Chad 'Toughest Guy In The League' Owens? This guy gets DRILLED from behind when in a very vulnerable position and actually walks off and then returns to play. He is a real Hawaii Warrior.
This team is fun as hell to watch. Put that on a t-shirt.
What are the chances that Wally Buono is on Jeff Tedford's call display this morning? That third down gamble and Toronto's response to it were game changers. That coupled with the adjustments that the Argos made after the horrendous start showed that BC was clearly outcoached.
Agreed, you do not change a winning formula especially since being the most important position on the field.
Harris has established himself as a number 1.
RR when healthy is unlikely willing to sit and be a back up.
Therefore, we trade him while you can get perhaps a decent 1st round pick.
We do need now a kick returner like a Banks or Tim Brown kind, but where do you fined one this time of year.
Maybe during the NFL cut downs.
That third down gamble was one turning point while the other one happened early in the 2nd quarter when Alex Bazzie took a roughing the passer penalty to extend a Toronto drive with the score 21-0 and the Argos going nowhere. The Argos would score their first TD on that possession.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
argos should pick up Sedderic Cunningham formally of Calgary to be their kick-returner.
There is a lot to like with Trevor Harris, he loves to compete, is poised but above all he is a team first guy who doesn't want to let any of his teammates down and I sense the other guys love that trait in him as well.
I posted during the game that Creehan had that 2012 look about him during the first half but kudos to him for not panicking and making the adjustments necessary to hold the fort until the O got on track.
Jim Barker, Chris Rosetti and the entire football ops staff deserve a collective pat on the back for not only bringing in talented players but talented players with heart who don't give up.
Totally agree with 1argoholics sentiments, as Argonaut fans how can you not love this group already.
Let's hope they come out strong from the gate next week in the Hammer!!!
