The Als' defence continues to have serious holes.

The Als’ defence will be seeking an improved effort against the Redblacks. The unit was victimized by Bo Levi Mitchell and Calgary’s offence for too many big plays on Saturday, the Stamps repeatedly finding the seams in Montreal’s zone defence. Calgary generated five passing plays longer than 20 yards.
“We can’t give up the deep ball, plain and simple. That’s what hurt us,” Thorpe admitted. “They found the seams in the zone. They did a good job. We didn’t do a great job as far as getting to where we needed to be in our coverage. We’ve gone in and made the corrections. We’ve seen it on film. They know how important this game is coming up.”

The Lions are still looking to play a full 60 minute game and don't seem to have the emotion and drive to win on a consistent basis, although once again this week they are saying all the right things. Whether they will perform that way is still a question mark.

The B.C. Lions took a long look in the mirror this week.
Coming off a pair of performances where they jumped out to early leads only to falter badly in demoralizing losses, a measure of inner reflection was needed before getting back on the practice field.
“There was a lot of soul searching to make sure that we’re together,” said Lions head coach Jeff Tedford. “The guys have been really close and working really hard and pushing one another and are really excited to have another opportunity.”
That opportunity comes Thursday when the Lions (2-3) host the red-hot Edmonton Eskimos (4-1) to kick off Week 7 of the CFL season. ...

B.C. jumped out to an early 7-0 lead last Thursday on the road against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers thanks to a methodical 14-play, 95-yard touchdown drive, but managed just six points the rest of the way in a 23-13 loss.
That defeat came on the heels of stunning collapse on July 24 when the Lions led 21-0 at home against Toronto, only to see the advantage evaporate in a 30-27 Argonauts victory.
The Lions have still yet to put together four solid quarters this season — their only two victories are over the winless Saskatchewan Roughriders — and know they need a much better effort to have a chance of stopping an Edmonton team that has won four straight by an average of 23.5 points.
“We’ve recovered well this week. I do think the confidence is good,” said Lions quarterback Travis Lulay, who threw three interceptions against Winnipeg and has been taking most of the heat for his team’s eight-ranked offence. “We know we have a great challenge.”

Was at THF this evening watching Hamilton dismantle the Bombers, hopefully the Argonauts watched to see how to handle a "should win" game.
Ticats are getting stronger by the week in all phases particularly on D, right now they are the class of the Eastern Conference IMO.
Argonauts are a very young and talented lineup encountering some bumps along the way but continue to win which bodes well for the back half of this season (and next) and these players mature and develop chemistry, should be interesting!!

The decision not to attempt a 48 yard game-tying FG reminded me a little of Bart Andrus not letting Justin Medlock try from 56 or 57 back in the '09 season at home to Calgary. From 48 though is much more baffling IMO and all Jones has said is that the numbers didn't dictate trying it.

I don't see too many flaws, unfortunately, in the Ticats lineup right now. Their defense and special teams can more than make up for any struggles their offense might have and that seems fewer and far between these days.

Ticats are a powerhouse for sure but they have also had fewer significant injuries than many other teams. Let's see how they do if they lose key starters, especially NATs. They did play without Fantuz and Butler last night, to be fair. Their home winning streak has to end at some point, and Labour Day seems like as good a time as any.

They haven't had the services of players like Norwood, Tasker, Gable and Murray for the full season. I'd call them pretty significant players to their attack. I, however, don't have an injury list from all 9 teams to compare the relative impact of each injury to that team.
