Brett Jones received an injury settle so is now an FA and Muamba had a tryout with the Giants today.
While this is probably a ridiculous stretch, I'm hoping that Barker can speak with TanenBELL and try to get some additional money for Braley to okay signing O'Donnell, Muamba, Ball and Carter. Chiles don't really care for but at the same time maybe he could complement the young receiving core.
If we did sign O'D and move VZ to RG, I might prefer to see Van Roten at centre. IMO he and Holmes have been our only two consistently solid O-linemen. I love Keeping and he's a warrior, but the o-line seems to have regressed since he got back in and VR moved to guard. Maybe it's health; someone alluded to a lot of injury woes among the group. If VR stays in the lineup somewhere we can't dress Spencer unless we take the drastic but possibly warranted (and I only said possibly, I am not entirely sold on this) step of moving out Owens.
I have no desire to move Owens out. I am not down on him at all. I want Spencer in as a situational option that can replace Coombs, 1 of the big 3 or maybe even a RB on certain plays.
Keeping may not be the issue. Maybe Van Roten is not a great guard. I would love to start 4 Canadians on the o-line. If they are set at starting only 3, I would consider pulling Van Roten out and moving King in at RT. Not saying Van Roten for certain is playing poorly, but perhaps the entire Argos line would look better if they had 2 tackles playing well. IMO, CVZ and King were a really good pair on the right side a couple of years ago with CVZ at guard and King at tackle.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Campbell-Holmes-Keeping-Van Zeyl- Sewell or O'Donnell (if they can get him) would be the line I'd like to see. I don't understand the hype around Van Roten, he's looked pedestrian all season to me........... Maybe Milo just loves the "versatile" guys.
Spencer should be playing and IMO should be our punt and kick returner, get him to be the new Chad Owens. Owens and the Argos have a decision to make this off season (Owens is an FA IIRC), with the exception of his fumbles Chad is not the player he once was and is making a hefty salary, if Owens takes a nice salary cut keep him around (as he's still very useful as a receiver), if not time to move on.

If there's one thing that does not exist with this team it is hype, especially concerning o-line deployment. Three of us debating on argofans is not hype. I know you meant you don't understand why anyone thinks VR is any good, just pointing out the choice of words is somewhat ironic.
Van Roten did a very good job when Keeping was out. Perhaps VanZeyl has better chemistry with King at tackle .... but VanRoten will be better than Sewell or ODonnel. ..... but thats just my .02$
chiles , ball & carter .
O'Donnell back to Edmonton, they really need him, starting RG this past weekend........... Eddie Steele.

Don't hold your breath for any of the Argo NFL cuts to re-sign here unless Barker can get them to come on a volunteer basis. Braley isn't going to spend another dime on this team so what you see is what you get.
For what it's worth, according to Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun, the Argos did try to re-sign Carter: "Another CFLer who left for the NFL this past off-season has returned, as former Toronto Argonauts cornerback Jalil Carter signed with the Ticats on Tuesday. The Argos and Esks were also in the running for his services."

Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
I read Kirk's article differently. I read that they were interested. I think with the right money, Jalil would have returned to his teammates. Especially with the East now up for grabs.
But I am only speculating. No one knows for sure what is going on behind closed doors. But the evidence is that other teams are actively signing players and the Argos are not. Disheartening, especially after the Argos in previous years never shied away from writing a good size cheque!
Frustrating because Barker let's these guys go to pursue their NFL dream. He could have repaid that loyalty by signing short term and signing long term after ownership change.
GO ARGOS!!!
Drew Edwards tweeted that Carter is only signed until the end of the season as he wishes to pursue the NFL again in the off season.
Well I wonder if he saw that Callaros is done. Hopefully we can keep playing like last week and pass them. Barker always loses guys once they come back. Pisses me off!!!!
