Not a fan of the Dinwiddie and Calvillo promotions, but Schonert flat out deserved to be fired.

Another American coach with zero experience in or understanding of the Canadian game promoted to a high position in no time = CFL gob typical laughable

Yeah, going the non-GOB route has worked so well for the Bombers.

If Schonert was responsible for that play-calling in Vancouver in their win vs the Lions, then this is a mistake. With their top 2 QB's out a running game was the way to go for the Als. They left that part of the game out in Montreal vs those same Lions and looked horrible. How could they have thrown the ball with Tanner Marsh...guy looked like he was playing catch with kids in the park on some of those horrible lob throws. Marsh is an example of an American QB who is simply in the CFL because they need somebody. I find it hard to believe there were no CIS experienced Canadian QB's capable of throwing the ball as well as him...oh, yah, there is no advantage on the quota for keeping them in camp, so their cut after Day 1 of training camp. That's fine if a guy can't play, but don't keep an American QB with the same skills because he played at a college that lost to Alabama or USC by less than 30 pts. (note the sarcasm)

Reading the CFL Blitz the other day and we still got coaches in this league that think they should be allowed to have no import quotas and go to the point of putting down their Canadian backups by saying they should not be playing pro football. If that's the way they feel, then they should not be in their positions in the CFL if they are not good enough to find good Canadian talent and developing it. Notice the coach is smart enough to say this off the record and did not want their name used. This is not the type of close-minded mentality or coach that the CFL should be attracting or wanting to attract as sends a negative impression to fans, and players everywhere. My prediction, this coach is probably on a staff of one of the bottom 3 teams in the league.

Completely agree. There are more good Canadian football players out there than ever. I realize that we also have more Canadians in the NFL than ever before but there are still enough good Canadians to stock CFL rosters. I would love to see the league go back to 10 Canadian starters as was the case up to the end of the '95 season. I don't see any way that happens however.

Actually Ravi - the Bombers are looking very GOB like IMO; you see, it has nothing to do with birth certificate and everything to do with mind-set and attitude of the football thinkers in question.

Marcel Bell-fool has been a card-carrying GOB for years now, and much as I hate to say it, O'Shea (an all-time fave player of mine) and Walters too are looking and acting very GOB like in their shot at running the Bummers; You can be a Canadian and still be a GOB Ravi - like a trained seal brought up in a system of behavior ;o) Yep - looking real good on the Bummers with GOB types running things, but at least they are way better than the last set of GOBs they had there - like a clueless Joe Mack who knew zip about Canadian football; hey, maybe they can hire Turk Schonert and Dan Hawkins to their staff.

If the Bombers lose their next game (which they likely will), it'll be curtains for O'Shea (and, you'd expect, OC MB).

Please, do not recycle - do not let O'Shea anywhere near the Argonauts' sideline.

I would have no problem with him on the staff. Just not impressed with him as a HC, but I personally, don't like defensive guys as HC's.
It's us vs the rest of the country

No thanks to O'shea, looked to be a great ST's coach in his first year, but IMO he was meh after that.

I don't see Walters, Bellefeuille or O'Shea get fired before the end of the season, though IMO they all should be. Wade Miller should be fired as well, how can you not sell 41,000 seats for a Grey Cup, then shut down one of the endzone temp seating, which means a sell out for this years Grey Cup will be a little over 36,000.
