With another loss, this time to the lowly Riders, you can expect the Bombers new QB, Matt Nichols, to be starting their next game. A conditional seventh round pick seems a pretty low price to pay for a QB with Nichols experience.
http://globalnews.ca/news/2199219/wi...-matt-nichols/The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have acquired quarterback Matt Nichols from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.
Nichols has spent his entire six-year CFL career in Edmonton. During that time, the import completed 270 of 443 passes for 3,386 yards and 19 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 138 yards and three majors.
“Matt is a player with significant experience in this league,” said Bombers GM Kyle Walters. “He has proven to be a solidified quarterback and will come in and add immediate depth to this position on our roster.”
The Bombers have struggled since their primary pivot, Drew Willy, suffered a right knee injury on Aug. 9 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Winnipeg has dropped back-to-back games, scoring a combined 28 points in the two losses.
