    Exclamation Tsn 1150

TSN 1150 is live now, so far a lot more CFL talk than TSN 1050 has.

It ought to as I think the Ticats had a whole lot to do with it getting launched.

They ran Mike and Mike (ESPN) during morning drive today and were touting Dan Patrick (ESPN) for mid-morning so the amount of local coverage may be light. Having Steve Milton on 4-7 is an excellent move and I'd like to listen to Ticats lunch but won't be able to very often.

They'll want to put a lot of Ticat coverage on the station for obvious reasons. Other then a local morning show and afternoon drive, I don't see why they can't also simulcast some of TSN 1050's shows if they aren't going to generate their own content. I figure that many Hamiltonians (aside from the Argos) cheer for the other Toronto sports teams.

But as of now at least they don't even have a local morning show. I can't imagine many Hamiltonians want to listen to Mike and Mike bang on about U.S. college football.

I do not suspect that they do. The morning show and PM drive would give people their fill of content about the Tiger-Cats while simulcasting with TSN 1050 gives people content for the other teams.

Originally TSN 1050 had Mike Richards in the morning, the dan patrick show, Bryan Hayes, Cybulski & Co. then Espn Radio or Game Night until 11 then espn. Maybe 1150 needs more time to find the right mix, although I hope to god that 1150 doesn't turn into 1050 lite.

IMO starting an all-sports format and not having local in both drive slots is a recipe for almost instant failure. Curious fans who tune in on their way to work and hear a whole lot of talk about Virginia Tech and and who's gonna rule the SEC will tune elsewhere, and many of them will never return. They should have had someone with local profile like Bob Bratina or Matt Hayes on 6-10 to go along with Milton (and the lesser-known Ferguson) 4-7. Fill with syndication in between, other than Ticats lunch, and then simulcast with TSN1050 in the evenings for Leafs, Jays and Raptors talk and you might have a fighting chance of ratings success. Right now they have little chance of success, IMO.

Listening to TiCat lunch, just had Sandy Annunziata on and Glen Suitor. Should be worth a listen during football season.

Alternated between 1050 and 1150 during various drives 4-7 ..... Marsh and Milton were okay .... Much more CFL and other sports rather than just the Jays. ..... But that probably shows my bias for ...... anything but baseball please .

Just before 4 it sounded like a repeat of the leafs lunch

I listened in my car on the way home, and liked Marsh and Milton. Only issue, and perhaps it's because I listened through the TSN GO app on my phone because am radio reception SUCKS, the volume when their guests were speaking was considerably lower than when they were speaking. Of course, I decided to tune out when Onrait and the tool were on. Never got their popularity.

I never understood their popularity either but I am guessing that you have to be a teen or in your early 20s to "get" them (as you have to be to "get" Cabbie).

O'Toole and Onrait I get................... to an extent. Cabbie still being involved in Sports media is mind boggling, that dude creeps me out.

I have noticed that a couple of the players that Cabbie has interviewed for the Thursday night telecasts look a bit uncomfortable with him invading their personal space. I noticed this with Rakeem Cato as well as a Ticats player whom I can't seem to remember now.

That's what creeps me out, he's less than a centimetre away from their faces after he asks a question.

i thought 1150's post game was quite good, it ran til midnight, they took lots of calls and put quite a bit of focus on the Argos too.

I can't change the channel fast enough when he comes on, TSN gives him a show and shows the Amazing Race, no wonder I can't stand their programming as of late. Boy do I miss their old black rounded square logo with the yellow neon style lettering of TSN inside it. They were a great station when they had Sportsdesk, not this Sportscentre ESPN logo crap.

Going back to cabbie and how annoying he is, if I were a GM or coach of a Pro team, I'd honestly have him removed from the dressing room for distracting my players and making them feel uncomfortable. I'm a real beleiver in the dressing room being a private area for the players to get away from the real world and prepare for their game and their carear, not a place that should be disturbed by some clown trying to schmooze his way into their social lives.

An indication of how bad it's gotten at TSN since they lost the hockey rights to Rogers Sportsnet. That was awful, and I didn't watch it, but just seeing the promotions were awful. That was local cable TV programming by volunteers quality programming and TSN televised that shite nationally...was it for charity, because why else would anybody be interested in that, and even than there are so many other personalities that you'd rather attach your charity to than that clown.

Hamilton is a real sports town that has 2 post game shows as CHML, the old voice of the Ticats still has their 5th Quarter show on AM900 hosted by Rick Zamperin, a terrific broadcaster and follower of Canadian Football along with Ted Michaels on CHML 900. I could see TSN 1150 maybe enticing one of these guys to host a morning show. Zamperin would be excellent as would Bob Bratina as Paul mentioned, another former play-by-play guy for both the Ticats and the Argos.

I think Zamperin re-committed to CHML when TSN 1150 was announced. I don't think he's going anywhere for awhile.

Happy to see and hear Jamie Thomas with TSN now, and I'm liking this line-up. Now they just need a morning drive show.

EDIT: Before anyone mentions it. I'm aware that Thomas has been around 1150 for the summer, only recently saw that it's a permanent move. Thomas was originally a guest of the evening drive, then moved over to Ticats lunch and the afternoon slot.
