As Chris Schultz said yesterday, a rookie QB has to avoid losing the game for his team.

I think Mathews lost the game for his team. He was spotted 10 points by his Special Teams and defence. I did see him turnover the ball twice 2 and had a critical delay of game that lost possession and lost the game. Not his finest hour.

I am not saying that the Ticats should give up on Mathews after last night's game but the offence didn't move the ball consistently last night. They had one decent 3rd quarter drive that ended in a Mathews fumble. They had one big play to Ford in the 4th quarter which led to a TD and that's about it. Mitchell and the Stamps actually did move the ball fairly consistently while the Cats did little on offence.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

His performance was light years better than Dave Dickenson's first CFL start.

Was Dickenson's first start on a Saturday afternoon during the 97 season at the Dome? I think I was at that game.

Didn't one of the Smith's lay a major hit on Dickenson that day?

Disagree - Matthews is a total stiff at QB - his play against the Esks when Collaros went out was laughable and HS QB like; he didn't do much better last game; the only reason he is playing in the CFL is because he is one of Kenty's boys from US college ball - and love to see Kenty stick with him for the rest of the season = they have next to no chance of going anywhere with a Matthews led offence; BUT - they do have a really solid D and good special teams (outside of being dumb enough to deploy Medlock as a punter) - their D + Medlock FG kicking + Banks dangerous on returns = could win them the East i guess, but I'd still bet right now on either Ottawa or the Argos being able to beat a team with ZERO at QB.
