2015 Could be Lowest Grey Cup Attendance in 20-40 Years

While I couldn't find more recent data on Grey Cup ticket sales, the fact that they already reduced game capacity by 3,400 in early September is not a good sign. Maybe they could rename it the Banjo Bowl just for this year and hope Rider fans don't notice where the Riders and Bombers are in the standings.

Capacity at Winnipeg’s Investors Group Field for the 103rd Grey Cup has been reduced by about 3,400 tickets, and organizers are still about 10,000 away from selling out what could be the lowest-attended Grey Cup in 20-40 years. “It’s still early,” Orridge said. “We’ve got the month of September, the month of October and even into November to sell tickets. So in terms of pace, it can vary market to market and year to year.”

I guess they shouldn't have jacked prices up. Had fun in 91 and 98 but not huge on the city. Not going this year.

That's the key. I'm a die hard CFL fan, but I'm done going to Grey Cups (even in Toronto). I can't justify paying $300 + for a single sporting event. I'll just have my best friends over and watch the games on TV..it really is just as good a time, with better food.

There are people who fly out to the host city and attend all the parties such as Spirit of Edmonton, Touchdown Manitoba and the like and then proceed to watch the game from a bar or something. People have the same view as you Angelo, why pay $300.00 to sit in -20 Celsius conditions.
