This is a game the Argos really should win, particularly if the team keeps playing inspired football and, hopefully, reduces the penalty count.

This is a team that the Argos could not solve late in the 2014 season. We shall see if Trevor Harris behind centre as opposed to Ricky Ray makes a difference.

Kind of unfair to judge the difference strictly on Ray vs Harris.

Argos receivers vs Montreal last Oct 18:

John Chiles Just off an injury
    LaVon Brazill

agree with Angelo. as one of many of us who sat through the pitiful labour day contest last year (and watched Ricky whip more than one ball right into the chest of our receivers only to have it bounce off incomplete), I very much am happy with our receiving corps a year later - Trevor definitely has more weapons at his disposal then Ricky did in 2014, no question.

I never know with Montreal (they have beat hamilton twice now - something the Argos couldn't do) but I think we should beat them. Cato is exciting but reminds me too much of bishop - chuck it up and hope for the best.

Way to much hype over Cato IMO, he reminds me of Ryan Dinwiddie. Montreal's D is still top notch, so hopefully Milanovich can come up with a good offensive game plan, because the Als should be well refreshed. Their offense on the other hand doesn't concern me at all and I still feel that naming Calvillo and Dinwiddie Co-Offensive coordinators was a bad idea. I wonder how much of a rope Wetenhall is giving Popp, because honestly I'd be surprised if Popp is not the next GM in Saskatchewan, although considering the relationship Popp has with Wetenhall one more season to right the ship should not be out of the question.

The Argos have beaten Ottawa three times but lost three times to Hamilton. Ottawa has beaten Montreal three times but lost three times to the Argos. The Ticats have beaten the Argos three times but have lost twice to Montreal and have one more game in Montreal where the Ticats usually don't play well. The east definitely has been an interesting division to watch this season.

I don't take the Als lightly. I can't imagine that they will play as poorly on Monday as they have in their previous two games so the Argos will have to be at the top of their game to win this one. BTW, Mondays have not been a good day for the Argos so far this season. They are 0-3 on that day. Conversely, they are 3-0 on Saturday, 2-0 on Sunday, 1-0 on Tuesday and 2-2 on Friday.

This game scares the crap out of me. The Argos could potentially suffer from an emotional let down after Tuesdays big win. I smell a trap game here.

It seems like the penalties have been an issue for years.

At this particular point in time, aka now... I will certainly take the Argos' offence over Montreal's defence, and I will - gasp - even take the Argos' defence over Montreal's offence. (Don't let me down, D.)

Trevor Harris, The Big Three, The Little Three, Spencer, and a decent supporting cast. What's not to like? Cato has shown he has talent but he needs a better receiving corps.

    Watch out for Logan.

Montreal always plays us tough but hopefully we can cut the penalties down to 100 yards and perhaps win.

Exactly my feeling as well, defences will tell the story in this one, Montreal's can be dominant, Argonauts D is hit and miss and on any given night can make even a pedestrian QB look like a star.
This game scares me as well.

They'll be well rested, and they really need this game, but I think we'll be in the game if we can contain Logan and we can rush the passer.

Montreal's defense was pretty bad against the RBs, and despite Hank having a great day, the Als were missing several injured players, and had several more who were walking wounded. If most of those defenders are healthy and/or back from the injured list, Harris will have a much bigger challenge than against Ottawa. I think it will be a close game - a toss-up.

I've made the trip to Montreal. Hopefully Harris can put on a show to make the trip worthwhile. So far no Montrealer has commented on my Argos gear.

The swagger is back with a bonus deserved hit on Star reporter Curtis Rush.

After being chewed up and spit out by the Tiger-Cats and Eskimos last month, the Toronto Argonauts have found their swagger again.

It wasn’t that long ago the Argos were on a three-game skid in which they gave up 115 points. Winning two straight games, however, can do wonders.

“Hopefully this means we’re starting to peak and get hot at the right time,” defensive end Ricky Foley said.

An indication their swagger — or at least an all-for-one mentality — is back came before Thursday’s walkthrough, part of the preparations for the Argos’ Thanksgiving Day game in Montreal.

The Star asked to talk to Trevor Harris, Chad Owens and Foley. Usually, each person is interviewed separately. But when the walkthrough was over, the three sauntered over to the reporter and asked if they could to the interviews together. A bonding moment.

Owens even chirped the reporter for calling him a “tiny veteran” in a tweet describing his one-handed touchdown catch that beat Ottawa with 24 seconds left on Tuesday.

“When you’re so used to throwing to 6-foot-3 plus (receivers), he’s (Trevor Harris) had to adjust to me,” the 5-foot-8 Owens joked before turning serious. “Little . . . big . . . it don’t matter. We’re all the same. We’re going to make plays.”

I think Greg Jones will play an important role in determining the outcome of the game because if he can help contain the Alouettes' run game, they will be forced to pass more, which is far from league leading to be kind.

On Monday afternoon, the challenge facing Jones and Toronto’s defence is Montreal’s run game, which must be established to take pressure off a very inconsistent Alouettes passing game that can lead to a lot of two and outs if too many attempts hit the turf.
Tyrell Sutton is a downhill runner, the kind of style that fits Jones’ skill set because he’s very good between the tackles.
What separates Montreal is its run game.
Most teams feature scat backs in the backfield, running backs who like to attack the edge and be used as receiving threats.
“I think our challenge will be consistency,’’ said Jones of the Als’ offence. “We have to keep (consistent) to continue to stop the run, play in, play out. They’ve got a great back in Terrell Sutton and I think they’re going to get him involved in their game play.
“If they can establish the run, I think it sets up the rest of their packages. We have to play together.”

Per today's wire, CvZ is indeed injured and has been placed on the 6 game IR. Fullback Zaleski has been added from the PR to re-Canadianize the roster. I guess Smith comes in at guard and Van Roten slides to RT?

Also, I was apparently correct in my interpretation of Milanovich's mumbling last week - Isaiah Green is off the IR and into our hearts (and roster). Did anyone see practice this week? The last time he played we used him at corner, I think, and am curious to see where he will fit into our current secondary (if he dresses).

It looks like Green is backing up at linebacker, Wobbler. I think that the Argos are happy with the five guys that they are starting in the secondary - the five who have started most of the season - and are hoping that they continue to get better with each week as they play together as a unit. This is a far cry from the past two years where changes were being made to the secondary on a weekly basis.

I also like the way the defensive line is playing. The Argos are now fourth in sacks and that is without doing much blitzing and in spite of a slow start by the defensive line. Pressure up front makes things work a whole lot better on the back end. The Argos' defence may not be championship-calibre yet but I do like the improvement that we are finally seeing from this group.
