I also thought Kack looked great and happy to see him play well, I wonder if he can play week in week out though. As I recall he looked great in the game against Winnipeg then not so much the next 2 games. Looked great on Friday, so who knows for next week or the week after etc. If Kackert is healthy I'd like to see him play, as I feel he's the team's best runningback (again when healthy). I also thought Spencer, Stala and Bates looked great out there, would love to see them start/play next week, but I don't see Spencer starting over Owens, even though I believe that's what should happen. Gurley and Hazelton should be back, though I'm not sure if there's been an update yet on Elliott.
I'm mildly disappointed that Jones didn't reach the 100 tackle milestone this season. Khalil Bass passed the century mark thanks to a busy night tackling Argos, but Jones ended the season with a "tragic" 98.
Best thing we found Friday night were Our City Our Team tees for 5 bucks apiece. Also got some All Hands on Deck white rally-towels during the first quarter,
but when a buddy went to find some, they were all gone.
what i really wanted was a discount on the beer (what a dreamer!)
I like Kackert a lot, but if Whitaker is not hurt, he has to be the guy. Steele is very good on special teams, and to be honest, he also ran the ball quite well on Friday. I don't think any decision the Argos make as to who dresses will be a bad one. Just that 1 in particular would be unpopular...at least on here.
It's us vs the rest of the country
I feel the same way, AV. They can't justify not starting Whitaker as he has played very well this season while Steele has done everything that has been asked of him. As you say, Steele ran the ball well the other night too and he is a valuable member of the special teams and we know how important that part of the game will be next Sunday.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Kackert looked close to being explosive again. I don't care that it was against Winnipeg. He was still bouncing off initial contact and always looked like he was on the verge of running away. He was a game changer in the 2012 playoffs. If he has that capability I don't know how you can't play him. Let the week of practice determine the starter.
GO ARGOS!!!
The starting RB will be whichever one the coaches believe gives us the best chance to win now, not in 2012. Based on how this season has gone, I firmly believe it will and should be Whitaker. If Kackert was seen as a serious contender for the spot, I think he would have played more than a handful of games, and more than one meaningless game over the home stretch. If Whitaker isn't healthy, Kackert plays. If BW is healthy, Kackert sits.
Thanks Captain Obvious: all roster decisions are based on whichever the coaches think give the best chance to win. Why bother questioning any of those decisions?
And again: ZERO reason whatsoever to not dress both Kackert & Whitaker IF they feel it could help the offence and give them that chance to win; unless a back-up RB who won't play on offence but is half decent on special teams is that big key to victory vs. a potential home run hitting RB for the offence.
And if you don't think special teams matter against Hamilton, I'm glad you're not the coach.
Love,
Captain Obvious
