    Commissioner Orrdige on TSN platforms

    Richards 1-4
    http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/orridge-...ew-home~870394

    Segment with Rod Smith
    http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/orridge-...ptimism~870292

Dave Jamieson (TSN 1260). Starts around 31 minute mark.

I have to admit, Orrdige seemed more comfortable in these segments than I've seen/heard him in other interviews. Some Argo talk, but nothing we really haven't heard before.

Are you saying that those that wanted him gone after his first press conference made knee jerk reactions? IMO, there were a lot that had pre-determined impressions on him, and no matter what he did, they weren't going to like him.

Not disagreeing and I was one of the few who preached patience with Mr. Orridge - even though my patience was starting to wear a bit thin (due to no drug testing policy and no word on what the future plans were for the league). In saying that I felt early on Commissioner Orridge was a bit awkward and uncomfortable in front of the camera and during interviews(not that he should have been fired for it though), and IMO those 3 segments I've seen a massive improvement. Orridge seems more comfortable now in the interviews and speaks in more detail about the league and things moving forward - which I'm very happy to see.

Yup. It's just amazing that people think public speaking is such an easy thing. Hell, some people that were calling him marble mouth have a tough enough time expressing themselves on here from behind their computer. So easy to be critical.

Having started the thread that raised questions about Orridge, especially in terms of his communications skills in his introduction to the media as commissioner and subsequently, I have to admit he has made major organizational improvements in terms of drug policy, refereeing etc. My original complaint was his poor communication skills, which are so important in a 24-hour sports media world. In this area, he has improved but still stumbles over some words and says "um" and "uh" too often for someone who is expected to be a professional communicator as shown in the above urls. However, he shows he can improve and he can also probably delegate some PR duties to others more gifted in this area. Overall, I offer him my congratulations and apology.

I think some of the frustration was during GC week and his state of the league address. There was frustration amongst most CFL media about that press conference. I for one am happy that he has taken that constructive criticism to heart and is making the effort. It demonstrates his commitment to the job and moving forward. I'm encouraged by this and look forward to him growing in the job and putting his stamp on the league. I don't want him fired because it means starting over and losing two years. I wish him success.
    GO ARGOS!!!

Personally, I never felt that his public speaking skills were the issue. In fact, far from it! At his state of the league address in Winnipeg, I felt that he craftily took someone's question, spoke 2-3 minutes on something well, but then you realized by the end of it that he hadn't really answered the original question.

Mark Cohon was like this as well. Never gets mentioned though.

If you want to hear "um" or "uh" after every sentence listen to our current Prime Minister.

It's called owning the press conference. All successful politicians, coaches and other public figures do this.

LOL! That commercial has to be one of the biggest political fails. It actually made me want to vote for Trudeau rather than against him. It had such terrible acting and lame potshots.
