Jones hired by Saskatchewan as coach+GM

Chris Jones is the new God-Emperor of Regina. Good luck to him! The Riders have some good bits and pieces - and obviously a fanbase that is the envy of the league - and could return to form quite quickly.

Yeah we should return to form but I hope Jones hires a DC so he doesn't spread himself too thin.

Sorry Dude, but you had to expect it. Jones is always looking to better his professional career, and to hell with anything that will stand in his way. The way he left Calgary for the Argos should prove that you can't expect him to stand pat.

Enjoy it while it lasts Riderfans I suspect he will continue his CFL tour of duty in a couple of years.
Don Mathews subscribed to a similiar theory, do what needs to be done and get the hell out of town.

Yeah, Jones kind of reminds me of Matthews...no sentimentality and he's also got that swagger!

Thats ok. He can "DeTamam" O'Day in the process, win a cup and bugger off to U.S college ranks if he likes.

JBarnsley is from Edmonton and an Esks fan. For him, it is brutal to see this happen, as it was to me when Matthews left the Argos after the 90 and 98 seasons.

    Ah, didn't see that!
Yes, from that perspective, I can understand his statement.

Kinda amusing or ironic how so many Riderfans. types used to whine & cry-baby about the Evil Empire spending/cheating their way to GCs or winning seasons back in the days before CFL $MS, but are now trumpeting their team for throwing big buck$ at Jones to fix a shit team. Good luck with that.

No doubt Jones has a proven track record but success is no sure thing, he was involved with recruiting and rebuilding the Argonauts D in 2013 which didn't work out so well.
He has a huge rebuild ahead of him in Saskatchewan.

In fairness to the situation, Milanovich has brought up that when Jones and Milo were coaching in Montreal, they made a pact that whomever got a head coaching gig first, they would hire the other.

Understood, and believe me, I don't blame him for always trying to upgrade his own career. In fact, I say his move to the Argos was more shady than his move to Saskatchewan. At least the promotion in Regina, is legit. Toronto was a lateral move, no matter what "title" they put on him. Lateral moves are not supposed to be made while still under contract.

Looks good all around from where I sit. Jones will be spread to thin and get over whelmed and when things don't go well he'll be chased out of town. Edmonton will have to regroup and will suffer.

The Jones hiring will have the same effect as all boats rising with the tide.
It's bound to increase the salaries for all football staff.

Himebauch was a lateral move, went from OL coach and running game co-ordinator in Edmonton to OL Coach and Assistant Head Coach here in Toronto.
I agree with you, lateral moves shouldn't occur. Although, if a lateral move gets Brady outta here, I'd be happy.

That and when Craig Reynolds asked Hervey and Len Rhodes to talk to Jones they could have easily told him to F$@k off but they said themselves that they weren't gonna stand in the way of someone getting a promotion.
