    Riders aren't taking scouting lightly

    MASSIVE STAFF

You couldn’t have thrown a football Tuesday at Fairhope Municipal Stadium without hitting someone wearing a Roughriders shirt.

While some teams had two or three team delegates in Mobile this week, there were somewhere between 20 and 30 Roughriders scouts checking out the South team practice. The Riders, however, are being tight-lipped about what form their scouting staff will take under new general manager and head coach Chris Jones.

The Riders also brought their entire coaching staff to Alabama this week, meaning the Green and White contingent numbered close to 40. All of them apparently got together at a downtown hotel and took part in a three-day scouting seminar in a downtown hotel.

“When the time’s right the team will make a formal release of how our scouting department will be newly structured,” Riders VP of player personnel John Murphy said Wednesday. “Was there change? Yes. We’re just looking to move forward.”
I know very few are or are going to be permanent members of the Wheaties scouting staff and they were most likely contracted for the Shrine Bowl, maybe a bit longer as well, but that's still impressive. IIRC Montreal at it's peak had over 6 individuals as part of their scouting staff, not including the contracted ones or coaching staff.

That is where Jones list of contacts really comes into play...not to mention a larger than most teams budget.
It's us vs the rest of the country
