I'm OK with this schedule. I realize there are a lot of weeknight games, but to those worried about a back loaded home sked, didn't happen. only 2 games after Sep 11 at home, so the majority will be warm weather home dates.

My only complaint is that once again the Argos are the only team with 2 games scheduled in the same week of games...Aug 31 at home and LD at Hamilton. Thus, they also get 3 bye weeks.

AND....I got my wish. Home opener against the Tabbies. Since the game is likely to sell out anyway, it also means less undesirables in the stadium. LOL!!!

Honestly, I was hoping someone other than Hamilton for the opener since that should be a sellout anyways.

I wonder what is the rationale with the 2 Wednesdays and the non holiday Monday. If it has to do with the condensed TFC schedule then it should be better in 2017. At least they are in the summer and they can really target families on those dates.

Overall, I'm ready to book some time off work!

Disappointing. Two Wednesdays, two Mondays, a Thursday. Ugh.
Oh well I'd rather have weekday and summer as opposed to weekend and fall.

Could have been worse, I guess. We will need to have a strong first two-thirds of the season as we play five of our last seven on the road (opposite of recent years). We get two brutal stretches: five games in 28 days between Aug. 31 and Sept. 23, and three in 11 days between Oct. 10 and 21. Two of our "bye" weeks are shorter than they should be: 12 days off and 11 days off. Ideally teams would have 13-14 so guys could get away for a full week and still get in a full week of practice. The Monday game in July is mildly annoying but the Wednesday games aren't the end of the world. Three 10 p.m. starts on the road (two of them weeknights) sucks from a TV-watching standpoint. We end with our last four against the west. All things considered it is not as terrible as it might have been.

I'll take it. It's better than other years have been. Hopefully I will make all the games, depending on what job i end up getting... Right now only planning on April 3 (Iron Maiden) and the Argos home opener and Aug 29 (Black Sabbath) as absolutely must have dates off.

Hamilton was a good pick. While the game will be sold out anyway the Cats offer the biggest buzz potential ... and the best atmosphere for all the new fans to witness.

Kick off the new Argos by reminding everyone who the biggest rival is ... and why.

I'm ok with the one Thursday night as it seems to be now apart of the TSN schedule in the last year or so but the Wednesday nights seem very odd.

I don't know how important that is Paul. Teams practice weeks now only start 4 days prior to game day, with 3 full practices and a day before game walk through. This will still allow for a full week off prior to returning to practice.

That's the same feeling I had, and why I was hoping they would kick off the season this way.

For the record, my predictions from a few wks ago (based on TFC schedule) were somewhat close but missed big-time in a few spots.

This is what I said, with notes added now:

IMO this means our schedule will include 10 of these dates (roughly):

    June 11 preseason -- correct
June 25 opener -- we got June 23 (same week but mid-week, not weekend)
July 16 -- we got July 13 (same week but mid-week, not weekend)
July 30 -- we got July 25 (previous weekend)
    Aug. 13 -- we got Aug. 12
Aug. 20 -- correct, but we also got Aug. 31 which I certainly did not foresee
    Sept. 10 -- we got Sept. 11
    Oct. 2 -- nope
    Oct. 8-9 -- we got Oct. 10
    Oct. 15-16 -- we got Oct. 15
    Oct. 29-30 -- nope
    Nov. 6 -- nope

I was expecting/hoping for a better schedule than that; at worst I was expecting a back loaded schedule, and I honestly thought we'd be done with the weekday games (Thursday an exception now, due to TSN trying for Thursday Night Football).

Yes, but it still means a shorter break for the players than some teams are getting, I assume. Not so much of an issue prep-wise but it means guys get less time away than ideal. Offset, I guess, by the fact that we have a third bye and it's a long break right near the end of the season.

I forgot who mentioned it but it looks like there will be a game during the EX and I surely think that's why it's on the 31st. Something you may have overlooked if your prediction.

Tons of glitches in the full schedule posted at cfl.ca -- multiple games repeated, sometimes three or four times.

Wednesday July 13 is a great date because it's the quietest sports day of the year, the day after the MLB all-star game. Argos/Redblacks will have the sports media to themselves. The CFL should have been regularly scheduling games on this day, maybe it's finally on the ball on this.

For the hell of it, this is how our home sked compares to Blue Jays:

June 23 -- they are off
    July 13 -- all-star break
July 25 -- they are home
Aug 12 -- they are home
Aug. 20 -- they are on the road
Aug 31 -- they are on the road
Sept 11 -- they are home
    Oct 10 -- MLB postseason
    Oct 15 -- MLB postseason

Argos have 3 games in 12 days through the Labour Day stretch. That's gonna hurt.

My way-too-fussy complaints: not a fan of the Monday game in July. I also don't like having 6 home games before Labour Day and 3 after (should either be 5/4 or 4/5). A 2016 home playoff game would really help balance things out.

Apparently the CNE runs from August 19 to September 5, so that makes two home games during the Ex.

Love that. In the 80's the game during the EX was always my favourite.
