BC is continuing the "Be more than a Bystander" program on stopping violence against women that it began in 2011 and that five other CFL teams are now involved in throughout the season and the off-season. The Lions have running on TV, as well as several times a game on their Jumbotron, featuring players speaking up on the issue. They also have players visiting schools to talk to kids on the issue, as in the following video. The players really grab the student's interest.
Buono was instrumental in starting this this because he had to intervene to stop his mother from being beaten up in her own home.
🎥 "It's a program that prevents violence against women. It's a topic I am super passionate about."
