Has to be a pretty dramatic pay cut there for Foster.

Wally has added two internationals to his roster - one of whom is a talented Bad Boy.

The B.C. Lions continue to shuffle their deck ahead of May’s training camp, announcing they’ve signed import defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy and import receiver Colin Lockett.
Purifoy, 23, drew some attention while playing at the University of Florida but after declaring for the draft following his junior year and being rated as a possible first round pick, off-field issues saw him fall off most teams’ lists. (There was a drug arrest and second drug-related police encounter which didn’t lead to an arrest.) ...
Indianapolis signed the 5’11”, 188 lbs. DB as a free agent in May 2014. He broke camp with the Colts and made 11 appearances as a special teams player, making 5 tackles. He was waived by the Colts at the end of November after a “string of minor, in-house disciplinary issues,” the Indianapolis Star reported.

The Seahawks brought him in for a look but didn’t sign him after he failed a physical. In an added twist, Purifoy had done so well in training camp that the Colts traded Marcus Burley to the Seahawks to make room for him. Purifoy was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2015 season; NBC Pro Football Talk suggested this was likely due to multiple NFL substance-abuse policy violations. ...

Lockett is 24, 5’11”, 186 lbs. and spent the last two NFL seasons on the practice squad for both Cincinnati (2014) and Washington (2014-2015). He played his NCAA ball for San Diego State, where he hauled in 130 passes for 1,999 years over four seasons. He scored 16 touchdowns. In his final season, his kick-return skills landed him an honourable mention in the All-Mountain West conference team.

If his drug issues are strictly for personal pot smoking, I have no issue with this.

At 26, a great 2013 season and a Canadian, Mike Edem should a very valuable newcomer for the Lions.

First off, he’s got something to prove. The guy had a banner rookie season with Montreal in 2013 but then ran into injury issues and was traded to Hamilton prior to the 2015 trade deadline. After recovering from injuries, he was used sparingly with both the Alouettes and Tiger-Cats. At 26, I think Edem can still ball and a little chip on his shoulder isn’t a bad thing at all.
I also really like the fit for Edem in BC. He joins a talented defensive group lead by coordinator Mark Washington. Edem likes the fit too, as he told the Vancouver Province in February: “I wanted to play for Mark Washington,” Edem said. “I was looking forward to getting drafted by B.C. in 2013, because I wanted to play for him then.

Bad news for CFL offences. It looks like Solomon Elimimian is fully recovered.

Elimimian is focused on making 2016 a memorable year in the Lions den.“We want to get back to that winning tradition. When you talk about the BC Lions, you talk about a winning organization, a winning ball club. Last year wasn’t pretty. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth as well as the guys in the locker room.”
One of the biggest adjustments for Elimimian will be having all-time CFL wins leader Wally Buono back on the sidelines. The last time the two were on the field together was the 2011 Grey Cup victory over Winnipeg.
“Guys are excited,” Elimimian said. “He knows how to motivate different players because not everyone is motivated the same way. You have to be able to relate to players and that’s just one thing Wally does.”

One Lion hoping to breakthrough this year is Canadian Stephen Adekolu as he saw little action as a receiver in his first two years, although he became a regular on special teams in his second year.

Adekolu’s journey hasn’t come without having to stay patient. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver dressed for just six games in his rookie season, recording one catch while also spending time on the practice roster. His sophomore season provided more promise as Adekolu appeared in every game and became a reliable member of the Lions special teams unit.“Playing special teams gives you the speed and allows you to gauge the strength of the game. People think special teams is not a glorious position, but I find it to be one of the most important aspects of the game,” Adekolu says.
With the off-season departures of Andrew Harris and Austin Collie, there appears to be room for at least one new Canadian starter on offence. Adekolu hopes an off-season of intense training will go a long way in securing a spot on the receiving corps when camp breaks June 16.

BC Lions added 2 more players, international receiver Avius Capers and national fullback Justin Gleben, just before their mini camp.

Capers attended training camp as an undrafted free agent signing of the Carolina Panthers in 2015. Prior to his NFL stint, he appeared in 38 games over four years at Johnson C. Smith (Div. II) located in his hometown of Charlotte, NC and recorded 136 receptions for 1,554 yards and 13 touchdowns during his time with the Golden Bulls.
Gleben joins the Lions fresh off a five-year run at Queen’s University where he dressed for 27 games. An effective blocking-back, he recorded just three career carries for six yards, but scored a touchdown on all three attempts while adding 112 yards on 10 receptions.
Both will be on the field this Thursday and Friday as the club’s coaching staff put approximately 30 first and second-year Lions through their paces at a two-day evaluation camp at the team’s Surrey practice facility.

Lions may only bring 4 qbs to training camp as Neil McEvoy, Lions director of player personnel, explains: Wally's philosophy "is to give the starting quarterback as many reps as he needs to get. Having more quarterbacks, all it does is create confusion, if you go to camp with five or six quarterbacks".

With the start of training camp still a month away, Buono is considering an offensive line experiment in Kamloops. He would move five-time CFL all-star Jovan Olafioye to left tackle, with free-agent signing Levy Adcock replacing Olafioye on the right side. First-round draft pick (2013) Hunter Steward, normally a tackle, is being retrained to play guard next to Olafioye. Kirby Fabien would move to right guard from left. “I guarantee you, we’ll have a lot better competition and a lot better athletes on the O-line this year,” Buono vowed.

The Lions are looking for more depth at receiver and may have found it in Avius Capers, whom they signed just before mini camp.

The Lions added Nick Moore in the off-season but on top of him and Emmanuel Arceneaux could use a little more help in the receiving corps, especially following the recent retirement of Austin Collie. One player who stood out because of his speed in Surrey, B.C. this week was Avius Capers.
Capers was recently let go by the Carolina Panthers and at 23 years still has plenty of upside. He’s on the smaller side at 5-foot-10, 200 pounds but with his quickness and explosiveness he could find himself competing for a roster spot among other young receivers at training camp next month.

Be an interesting battle for the 3rd-string spot between McGhee and Price.

I'd like to see Jennings produce for more than a 7-game stretch before we declare him the next great thing. There's now a book on him and he'll be running a different offense. Will be interesting to see how this season goes.

In the video and article below Jennings and Buono discuss his contract with the best line being Jennings response to the question "Any big purchases?"
Jennings responds "No, trying to be cheap like Wally".
