There is no price tag on heart and motivation. By not signing Owens, The Argos missed a great marketing person, a team leader, and a inspiration.
Youth identified with him, kids loved him like a superhero, not to mention what most adults thought of him while he was an Argo.
Now he is working his magic in Hamilton. He scored 2 TDs last night, and was working the crowd, as well as the Tiger Cat bench. Barker (or whoever) F'ed up and The Argos dropped the ball BIGTIME! Who do the Argos have now? *crickets*

I'll admit I thought the time was right to part ways with Owens but this decision has turned out to be another huge mistake.
Letting him go was a definite blow to Chad's ego and he is out to prove everyone in the Argo organization wrong to which the Ticats are the benefactor, I'm also sure catching touchdown passes from Collaros down the stretch will only sweeten the pot!

Well with Scott Milanovich being such a shitty coach it wouldn't have mattered having Owens in the lineup.

I was one of those as well. I figured with Spencer, we'd be alright letting Owens go, but we're missing him as a receiver and his leadership. Yet, another thing I've been wrong about lol.

Absolutely, these player moves are starting to add up with this franchise.
Some one has to pay for these if not now surely at year end.

You can't replace Owens. Plus he goes to our hated rival and will get back at us again.

You can't blame Spencer for that (I don't think you are) as he is a 2nd year player. To be fair, the other receivers haven't been in Toronto for very long either.

No blame whatsoever on Spencer, he's still young and has been injured - I'm just pointing out that Owens could have been useful this season. As the saying goes: hindsight is 20/20.

Well, I've been a huge Owens fan since the day he arrived with the Argos and was lamenting last night that they sure could use him right now but I don't know if he'd be of much help without Ray anyway. Last season, he was largely unproductive but mostly because he did not have the same chemistry with Harris as he did with Ray. It is good to see him doing well and from what I understand, the Argos did not want to insult him by offering him a lower contract but I don't know, isn't it even more of an insult to not be offered one at all? Good for him to carry on and play hard and do well.
Yes, from a marketing and leadership perspective, he would've been a huge asset.

Yeah that's the reason that Barker gave. TBH, I take what Barker says with a grain of salt.

    It starts from the top.
If available as GM/VP of F Ops, I would hire Tillman yesterday.

Wow. Two bad games put the team at 4-4. Not 0-8. Now old Chad Owens threads are being resurrected.

    It's not just about 4-4.
Let's add us, uninspiring boring football played at home before half empty stadium.
Grave and curious player decision on the last two years for ZC and TH, lack of back up for aging and often injured over the hill QB and yes let's now throw in Chad Owens, the undisputed face of the franchise.

Tom it's not a Half Empty Stadium. To the Rose Coloured Glasses Squat or RCGS it's a Half Full Stadium. I'm not suppose to talk about stadium issues.

still irks me seeing Owens in black and gold. Not resigning the only guy a casual fan may know and someone who is considered the 2nd coming of Pinball was a head scratcher. Especially considering the guy still has skills. A season of lost oportunities for this franchise.

Good lord, the season isn't even halfway over. People are acting like we're the Riders.
