They sent an email to all of us loyal fans tonight while at a poorly attended game to secure our seats for triple what I paid in 2012. What have we done to justify that? I thought the benefits of this new ownership group were going to be better game day experience. Same old 12000 at the game and now higher ticket prices. Thanks.

Scooter I'd bet that they are trying to make the same type of money that the game would at the dome but with much fewer seats. I'll be partying in Toronto for four days but we can't afford the game at this point. To me Grey Cup is more about the people that I know from around Canada. The game is a bonus but not at those prices.

I agree with you. The Grey Cup is about the people. The great fans coast to coast and beyond that make this league unique compared to others. I am worried that by charging these MLSE type of prices that they may alienate that fan base that is so important to the CFL. Not to mention after being there last night with only 12000 people who do they think is interested in filling those seats at those prices from Toronto? Other fans will not travel to this Grey Cup with those prices. That means Toronto has to buy this. I question whether Toronto corporations will support GC at these prices. Even if they do the league runs the risk that if weather is bad people that get their free tickets from a Corp that buys the ticket does not show because they are not a real fan and did not buy the ticket for themselves. A real fan who buys their own ticket is going to the Grey Cup regardless of weather. The PR of looking at empty seats for a Grey Cup would sting for awhile. What they are doing here is what could be tried when the next GC is here after they have successfully rejuvenated the brand and Argos are relevant. This is too soon judging by last night.

Unfortunately less seats = higher prices per seat.

I understand and I want to see the team and league prosper but tripling the pricing. I hope they know what they are doing. 12000 last night tells me they are no smarter than previous owners. Pricing the way they are is a massive risk.

Anytime a city has tried to raise prices for Grey Cup they've struggled selling seats. I think Winnipeg had issues. People will come for the party but not go to the game.

Yikes. I had just scrolled through that email, and thought it was another map showing season ticket prices. I won't be paying that much.

I never intended on buying Grey Cup tickets in the first place. I didn't in 2012 either. I can't justify paying that much for a single sporting event, no matter how big it is.

I think that you're right. I'm wondering if I might be better off just waiting and trying to get tickets a couple days before?

Apparently starting in 2013 they raised the Grey Cup prices and they have released discounted tickets a couple of days prior to ensure that the game is actually sold out.

The Tickets that are $299 and under will likely sell ok --- I doubt the rest of the building will sell very well at the other prices.....my suggestion is to wait if you want expnsive seats, as they will come down in price.

To sit in my seat or a seat similar is going to cost me $400, so I'll end up downgrading to the $300 seats. I'm not a fan of sitting in endzones; even at $170-$200.

i bought in 2012, but listed them on stubhub (at a high price), but delisted when argos got in. if the argos don't make it, should be good aftermarket especially with Ottawa first shot at a title in forever and hamilton.

most of the posters are right. The higher end seats are toooooo high. I think MLSE assumes most season ticket holders will slide down a couple ranges and they can sell some to corporate canada. I don't see it.

The $399 seats on the west are a good deal.

One sad thing i see from the MLSE folks, is they try to maximize profit on everything.

Instead of pricing thing down a bit and building goodwill will ticket buyers.

One thing i would like to see is what they do for TFC, is your season ticket price is frozen. So you have season ticket holders paying $13 a game still and keep renewing because they don't want to lose their great deal.

you mean 2014, it was only 2000 seats in very high corners, which were very overpriced in upper bowl.

Pretty sure GC tickets drop in value on the actual game day. So I've heard from people who buy last minute from fans or scalpers.

In regards to buying your current Season Tickets for the Grey Cup this is what my rep said:

"Yes you can. They will be reserved for you."

From what I've read on other Forums Grey Cup tickets have been more expensive since 2013.

Probably part of the reason that Grey Cup capacity has been lower and the tickets have been a harder sell.

A good article from Simmons today about the Grey Cup prices and the incredibly poor timing of the announcement yesterday. I agree with him (I don't very often but in this case he is bang on) that they may very well be out of touch with the interest in the Grey Cup especially if the Argos are not in it and given their play so far, there is nothing to suggest that they have any shot of making it. To set those prices for a fan base of the CFL that at this point in the GTA is ho-hum at best is a real gamble and one that could be a terrible failure if the are unable to sell out the game with fewer than 40,000 seats in the first place.

    The team is 2-2.
On what do you base the statement above?
    I don't agree FYI.

i wonder if the tailgating is a money sink or if they actually make a slight, if miniscule profit off of it.
If they don't make a profit off of it I'm worried it will be gone if this keeps up.

As for the argos being in the Grey cup, they have a shot IMO.

Ottawa is the best team in the East I have decided, with, IMO, the best QB. We lost one big quarter to them, unfortunately. Could have won that game.
BC is good as well and we managed to win there.

I still see this as an above 500 team.
Our defence is better than years past.
