If they don't make a profit off of it I'm worried it will be gone if this keeps up.

As for the argos being in the Grey cup, they have a shot IMO.

Ottawa is the best team in the East I have decided, with, IMO, the best QB. We lost one big quarter to them, unfortunately. Could have won that game.
BC is good as well and we managed to win there.

I still see this as an above 500 team.
Our defence is better than years past.
I don't see a lot of cost to run the tailgate. In fact, I was flabbergasted that the tailgate apparently took up all the Argos time which lead to no Fan Day for example. As long as people keep buying beer (still over 100% profit at $4 and $7, Hockley Dark is $2.90 a can at LCBO) and keep paying $35 to park, it's a break even event at worst. It needs to keep going regardless as it's actually successfull and part of the growth of the fanbase .

I agree with the Simmons article in terms of the pricing but has he and any other member of the media criticize the pricing for Leafs or Raptors tickets. Raptors, like all MLSE teams keep increasing its prices, especially for the playoffs and is not affordable for the average person. They too deserve as much criticism as the Argos do here IMO.

whatever you want to say about Bieber. That grey cup audience was over 6million and i believe it peaked at halftime.

When you read the Simmons article it says that 1/2 the tickets are under $300 and 1/4 of them are under $200 --- according to the seating chart there is no way that appears to be accurate --- the temporary stands above the South end alone are 9000 plus seats? (assuming a 36K+ footprint for the Grey Cup) - and that plus the upper east and west corners is 1/2 the building? (maybe 1/2 the upper east side is $299 and a very small portion of the west side uppers is that price)? Are there North side cheap tickets that they are not showing us? or not selling until they try to move the expensive ones first?

With only 7000 STH, I guess it was easy to offer everyone double their ST allotment in GC tickets, that should have told us all there was a pretty big ST sales problem at this point --- I am scared about what will happen when the novelty factor wears off (TFC sold seats for a few years on "atmosphere" alone and rolling back ticket prices to keep from a mass exodus not long after), once there is no GC to sell people on the need to buy season tickets next year that will hurt too - I read elsewhere on the boards that implementing a price freeze, or lowering season ticket prices to existing subscribers is the least they can do ---- I am a STH for TFC and until this year my tickets were about $12 each in the same section as my Argos tickets (220) - this year they went up to $17 - if they get to be over $20 I will probably drop them.....its not the sum value of spending $200 for a ST (or $350 for TFC) that will keep me from buying the tickets per se, its whether I start to feel like a sucker when I can buy seats for every game at less than what I am even paying (you could have walked in for $5 or less yesterday) and not get stuck with the other games no one wants to go to....Monday night football isn't going to look too pretty either in 10 days or so --- Winnipeg on a Friday in August up against the Jays at home (who will draw 40K+) and a Tragically Hip concert (some of the same demo I would imagine) won't draw that well either....Games at the Ex should do ok as will Hamilton in September I would imagine --- if the Jays are in the playoffs in October those two October Argos games may see some ugly attendance numbers too (even Saskatchewan folks like the Jays - ha ha ha!)......the bottom line is very few people will put the Argos "first" as the entertainment choice against other options and in a city like Toronto with many other options appealing to a similar demographic, they really need to add value to the product and do everything in their power to hold on to the few hard-core fans that they have --- and $500+ Grey Cup tickets is not the way to do it.....here is a wacky idea, how about a discount for STH on GC tickets - Winnipeg did this to some degree last year if you committed to 3 years of season seats you got $100 off each GC ticket --- If I saved $200 on a pair of GC tickets that basically pays for one of my "future" seasons and then I commit to one more --- maybe you hold on to a few more people that way --- it's not the greatest idea, but it is an idea.....

What about the staff selling beer, paid duty police, security, paramedics, insurance and the cost of using the parking lots?

Also the Hockley Valley Dark tallboys are $4 at the Ontario Place Tailgate.

These prices represent the first real mistake of this regime IMO. Even though I LOVE my Argo seats and was planning to go to Grey Cup, I'm now pretty sure I won't be doing so. They should not have done this when they are trying to build fan loyalty.

I know a lot of the teams in the past would give their season ticket holder a discount off their grey cup ticket.

It would be nice to be reward for being a season ticket holder but nothing has changed in Toronto.

I'm going to hang with good friends, drink beer, eat well, go to some Grey Cup events, see the sights in my old stomping grounds, and watch the Grey Cup, but I will NOT attend the Grey Cup. With the money of a Grey Cup ticket, I could do a lot of cool shite in T.O.

Just another example of Copeland not following through on his statement that he was going to focus on Season Ticket holders.

This one is a major blunder when trying to rebuild this brand in Toronto, comes off as typical MLSE style greed IMO!!
Would have been nice for the Argos to extent a token of appreciation to season seat holders but that would make too much sense, I guess giving ST holders the first chance at being ripped off is their version of a "perk"??

Forget the Grey Cup game. It's all about Thursday, Friday and Saturday partying with friends from all over Canada and the US. Then this game thing happens most likely between two teams you can't stand anyhow. So you get together with other fans or friends for more booze and food and watch anywhere from a hotel room to a big arsed bar. Good times!!! I've been to plenty of games and missed a few but it's the party that matters. If somehow the Argos make it fans from other teams ditch tickets.

At these prices, I'm guessing the average ticket price around $450, a sellout of 38k, you're looking at over $17M in ticket sales alone. Should they actually sell out, this will be a major haul for the team, and hopefully afford the owners the patience it will need to rebuild the business side of things.

Well if they could secure Drake or the Weeknd, then that would be huge. But, both aren't really in the musical style fitted for football. If that matters....
