Argonauts to return to Guelph for training camp?

I don't believe the Argos have held training camp in Guelph since the mid-1990's. I also thought that in allowing the Tiger-Cats to play their home games at Alumni Stadium in 2013 that the Argos were effectively ceding that territory, although it probably doesn't matter for the purposes of training camp.

This sucks. I enjoy going out to watch TC on weekends or when I book time off work, especially 10 minutes from home at York. I don't know how often, if at all, I will have the time to take the drive to Guelph.

That's what happened to me once they left UTM. But of course, I'd rather travel to York than to Guelph. Maybe UOIT next year?

From that perspective it definitely sucks. I might drive out to Guelph on a weekend, but even at that only one weekend. I assume that Fan Day won't be held in Guelph either.

I remember the Argos left Guelph in the 90's in order to gain more exposure in the GTA. I gather TC at York has it's flaws, hence the move back to the Queen City. Only about an hour drive from Stratford though.

Yes, but that means you are responsible for providing the membership with thorough analysis of going on's at training camp

LOL! I could try, but I would never measure up to former poster gogogos, who would do a great job each year at the combine...hey AV, is it true that Frank Z does not drive? I thought 1argoholic made mention of this....what kind of media will the Argo TC get this year other than ArgoTV?

I had just assumed TC would be at the new practice facility, but apparently they are not ready for that yet. Guelph probably are giving a them a good deal. It is a good facility now with the Campus rooms available close at hand. I have been to a few CIS games there over the years and it is easier to get to instead to all the Big City traffic like Erindale and York.
Kind of thought it had become Hamilton territory though.

It's not unusual for teams to hold training camp in locations such as this. I think the Alouettes hold their training camp somewhere in the eastern townships and the Lions did theirs in Kelowna.

This make little or no sense to me. Hold training camp in your marketplace. I don't care what kind of deal they got. It was hard enough getting T.O media out to Mississauga, let along Guelph

Just spent two nights in Guelph a few weeks back as one of our Toy Poodles had major vet dentistry done there. Now I know that Royal City Brewery and Pizza Trocadero are GREAT reasons to hit Guelph.

I think the reason they would not hold camp at Downsview is because there is nowhere on the facility to house the players. That is why TC is always at a University. There are plenty of unoccupied rooms at the school during the summer months.

Yes, the BC Lions go to Thompson Rivers Univesity in Kamloops, good dorm facilities as well as cafeteria and playing field.
