TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
The Who played the Ex in 1989 as well, that structure was the stage used for "grandstand" shows where the stage faced the covered grandstand for 25,000-30,000 capacity concerts, for end stage shows (60,000+), some used that stage, others built their own bigger stage....and yes, in addition to the Who, I saw the Stones, U2, Springsteen, Genesis, Bowie, Pink Floyd etc. amongst many others, at the Ex in its various forms.....I guess I am old....
.....and I remember swearing in 1988 in freezing rain after they lost to Winnipeg in that last game there (a playoff loss!) that I would never go back there again to watch another football game as "thankfully" a new dome was being built.....I had seasons in 1989 at the new dome, and I have seasons in 2016 at the new Ex....what goes around comes around I guess...ha ha ha....
CNE Bandshell was its proper name if memory serves.
I attended The Police "picnic" in the mid-80s there.
Just received my season ticket book. Sweet look. One thing I noticed is that there isn't a discount card for Argos merchandise that used to be included. The Argos website doesn't mention it as a "benefit" of being a STH. Does anyone have any info on why this wasn't included this year??
No, it was the Grandstand. The CNE bandshell was a much smaller structure west of the old stadium. It was still there a few years ago but I don't know if it's still standing. During the CNE it would hold un-ticketed concerts by C and D level acts.

The 77 reconfig didn't do the Argos favours but it was a great place to watch baseball. The closest seats to the action in all of baseball. The "visual" Jays experience lost a lot when they moved to the dome.

....and for the really well off....$1.99 Argos Playoff tickets.....I believe this is either from 1984 or 1986 (can anyone tell me how to tell the difference --- and there would be tears of sadness on both, so that doesn't help!), - I was at both of those horrible losses to Hamilton.....Attachment 750
....apparently I was rich in 1987 and 1988 --- $18!!.....Attachment 751....
Anyone else have old ticket stubs they can post, I like looking at that sort of thing....all of my 1989 and beyond stuff is easy for me to find but I like the old ones from the Ex days.....and I really miss that old boat logo.....and why was I sitting on uncovered benches all the time?!
