Following being cut by the Als on the first day of TC after being asked to take a pay cut, International OL Jovan Olafioye, who was a six-time All-Star in six years with the Lions, sent a series of angry tweets directed at Als' GM Kavis Reed (see below). He then signed with BC.

With OL Ryan Bomben injured for a couple of weeks, the Als are looking at possibly signing Kirby Fabien, an OG for the Lions for five years, an unsigned free agent, to provide depth.

Josh Freeman has retired. I would've been surprised if he even made the team out of TC, all reports during training camp were that Freeman was struggling mightily. Sad that Drew Willy may end up be the Als starting QB.

Oh Kavis. I wonder if they'll sit Shiltz for a bit longer to protect him, supposedly he's the future (I like his game actually), but I don't see Drew Willy firing up the offensive bellies.

Another example of Kavis Reed's poor judgement when it comes to signing players.

"We are very happy to welcome Josh in the Alouettes family. He has had success at every level and we feel he is a great addition to our team," said Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed. "Josh has talent, speed and size that will make him very interesting to watch and we feel he can run our team's offence."

A translation of Didier' first tweet: Honestly, Freeman should never have been taken to training camp. He was already dragging it at the mini-camp. The guy has played very little in the last five years. Another very bad signing.

Freeman was even introduced to the fans when he was attending a Canadiens game in the off season. To me that all but locked up the starting QB job.😐 I would rate Montreal qb's last in the league.

Here's a look at six Als' rookies who could have an impact this year: second overall draft pick National OL Trey Rutherford; International WR Jamal Robinson; International RB William Stanback; International QB Garrett Fugate; International DT Lawrence Okoye; and National LB Jean-Gabriel Poulin.

International LB Chip Cox remains an unsigned free agent but is Montreal undergoing a medical evaluation. While GM Kavis Reed said yesterday he expected him to sign today but that did not happen.

Ouch! The Als used to have around 18,000 STH, and lots of the 18-34 demo attending the games, some work to do over there and BC like we have over here. Interesting that the helmet will change on a monthly basis.

Watch the game on TSN....I swear that the camera man will zoom in on every college aged girl in the stands. And there seem to be a lot.

Like the Argo BMO home opener ?
Still to this day I think a lot of the ladies at that game were plants (Placement type, not the green growing out of soil type lol).

What's with Justin Dunk's and 3downnation's obsession with Josh Freeman smoking cigarettes ? That place is becoming more laughable each week.

I noticed that as well. All smoke is bad, including BBQ, and i'm sure a lot of players smoke some other stuff. So who cares? And that's not even why Freeman struggled.

Good luck trying to find a college aged girl in the stands. The Montreal Gazette article quoted the president saying

    http://montrealgazette.com/sports/fo...molson-stadium

    "
The problem, potentially, is the average fan is a 52-year-old male, Boivin said. Those between the ages of 18 and 35 — the demographic advertisers cater to — comprise no more than 10 per cent of the fan base. And that’s the group a franchise must attract for its long-term solvency."

The same problem in Toronto the average fan is older and they need that 18 - 35 demographic.

There's no question our current fanbase is predominantly middle-aged to elderly, predominantly male and predominantly white. Anyone at the Town Hall (or at games the past several seasons) would have noticed that. Manning acknowledged at the Town Hall that the organization has to expand the base into a younger demographic and more communities.

HC Mike Sherman expects the competition for starting QB to continue into the early regular decision rather than end with a definitive starter for these early games.
