Former Montreal players Anwar Stewart and Chris Ackie openly complaining about the way players are treated by DC Noel Thorpe.
Interesting but not shocking TBH.

Thorpe has always had a decent defensive mind, but his personality has been an issue over the years, so none of this surprises me.

Maciocia took things downhill fast in Edmonton after winning the Grey Cup in his first year as HC with a talented team for the previous regime. I never like his approach to the game.
The Als have signed first round seventh overall pick Lual Uguak who played for Texas Christian University which made it to National Championship Game.

Avery Ellis has re-signed with the Als, who also made several other transactions, after being traded by them to the Elks half way through last year.

It is ironic that the new owner of the Als that saved the Canadian Football League's franchise in Montreal, Pierre Karl Peladeau is not just a hardcore separatist billionaire who became leader of the independiste Parti Quebec only to discover politics is not easy and lasting one year. He is also notorious as a union buster, who " alienated voters on several fronts. He had a reputation for being a union-buster due to his frequent use of lockouts, a significant liability both in a province that is 40 percent unionized and in a party that has long billed itself as a social democratic party.[14] At the same time, his unabashed support for sovereigntism alienated many voters who did not want to vote on the sovereignty issue again." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Karl_Péladeau) Hopefully, his political positions won't turn off some fans, especially in Montreal's English speaking community and he won't start union-busting against the CFL Players Association. The season opener for the Als had 20,865 fans in attendance, so that's a good sign.
Dahrran Diedrick, former Canadian running back with Nebraska and three time Grey Cup winner in a 10-year CFL career, died Saturday after a battle with cancer. He was 44.
Are the Alouettes a threat in the East or have they taken advantage of weak teams in Ottawa and Hamilton? It isn't as if the Argos' opponents have been top-flight so far either, but you can only play whoever is on your schedule.

GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
I never bought the notion that the Alouettes had a disastrous off-season. They had some challenges for sure, but I thought that Maciocia actually did a decent job in the off-season, given the ownership situation at the time. I believe that the Als may indeed be a threat this season.

An absolute Snooze Fest in Montreal tonight as the Als go to 0-1 in their “Jed Clampet Long John” imitation uniforms.
The league has good reason to be concerned about the poor entertainment value of games so far. Average winning margin of 13.5 points, and six out of 14 games so far have been 14 points or greater. Only three games with single-digit margins (7, 4 and 3). Even the relatively small margin of last week's Argo game (12 points) was deceiving as the Elks scored two late TDs including one with seconds remaining. One of the things we could count on even when scoring was going down was the likelihood of a lot of close games, but we have not had that so far this season.
The 14 games so far have averaged 44.5 points, which is down about six points per game from last year's season average. We've had three games with 70-plus points and, two in the 20s, four in the 30s, three in the 40s and two in the 50s.
