A brutal schedule for the Als, in BC on Friday and they have to play Hamilton twice, the Stamps twice and the Esks, maybe 1 win against the Riders?
With 3 wins I can't see them getting too many more. They likely end up with 4 wins max.

Rakeem Cato is in the end zone and isn't practicing. Vernon Adsms is now working with the #Als' starting offence. Quiet time for Cato.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a serious overhaul in Montreal in the off season.
Popp definitely out as head coach and possibly as GM.

I just hope that they aren't able to pry Steinauer from Hamilton as their next HC.
I'd like to see him back with the Argonauts.

Popp, if he is going to save his job as GM which is also iffy, should fire Popp the coach.

As for Steinauer, I'd love to see him as the next Argo HC.

Big potential news if true. Personally, I've always hoped that the Molsons would be the Als, they run a class act with the Canadiens, and I think the potential synergies between the two franchises could be a huge boost for the Als. In saying that, I think the Wetenhall's have taken the Alouettes as far as they can, and it's time for a new ownership group to breathe life into that franchise.

That's interesting. The CFL doesn't need Montreal to regress like the franchise did before. The Wetenhall's have made the franchise fairly stable along with the move to McGill Stadium. But if the deep pockets at Molsons were interested in buying the Als that would give the Team a more local appeal. I think the biggest problem right now is that Popp the GM is much better than Popp the Coach. The Players may not respect his Coaching ability which generally has a way of ending badly. Montreal needs a Coach with a strong personality like Don Mathews who won't put up with Jim Popp looking over his shoulder. Maybe the Als could hire Milanovich away from the Argos as Coach and assistant GM so it would be a promotion and not a lateral move. Maybe it is time Milo moves on if the Argos continue to falter this year.

I just think NHL owners owning CFL and NLL teams work. Would love to see True North buy the Bombers, Molsons buy the Als, etc. Doesn't always work though, ex. if Melnyk were to buy the Redblacks lol.

Speer would be a local owner, and from what I've heard via TSN 690, some of the other investors would be local as well, which is good news. The Als really do need some new blood, and while Popp isn't helping with the on field product, the business side of the Alouettes has been on the down slide since it's peak in 2008.

I agree that the Wetenhalls have hit a wall in Montreal and it is time for committed, local ownership with capital to take over. As far as Jim Popp goes, he may be nearing the end of the line there.

The biggest potential wrench in all this is that Andrew (Bob's youngest son) has wanted control of the Alouettes for quite some time, and Bob Sr. (owner) has stated in the past that the plan was to keep the franchise within the Wetenhall family for years to come. I suppose if the offer is good enough, we could see a change, and IMO it's sorely needed.

Don't think much of Popp as either coach or GM.

Still think it's hilarious that when Popp was asked why he was a good choice to return to the sideline, Popp responds by saying "We've made the playoffs every year that I've taken over as Head Coach" (or something along those lines). Popp completely overlooked the fact that he had a losing record, and barely made the playoffs each time lol.

Popp hasn't been a competent GM in a long time, and he has never been a competent head coach.

Rumours that Thorpe will be named interim HC soon and that Danny Macocia will take over next season are circulating.

Maciocia as HC wouldn't be a bad idea, but if the Als were smart they'd hire a GM. Just please not Sunderland.

Yah, the Wetenhall ownership is going stale. Love to see the Molsons buy the Als.

Carter is complaining once again. The question is whether his talent outweighs his mouth and overrules his brain.

I'm not disputing what he says. The problem is he is always complaining and in his opinion it's never his fault. It wears thin over time with teammates and coaches, creating divisions with the team. Complaining has its place at the right time and in the right place but overdoing it is counterproductive.
