More reps for refs on each side of the border. CFL refs will attend NFL training camps and education sessions before working pre-season games in the NFL, and NFL-trained referees will officiate pre- and regular-season games in the CFL . Orridge is trying to make positive change and good on him for that, but still one major move he has to make imo.

I'm sure you've said before but can you remind me what that move is?

    I just read http://www.tsn.ca/cfl-nfl-announce-o...rship-1.476413
and I like what I read.

CFL officiating has been too often toxic far too long.

Johnson given the boot. More penalties are being called now than ever before and IMO that's on him, the GM's and Head Coaches of the CFL. He just fired and demoted quite a few officials - I wonder why he's not held accountable for whats gone on.

Anything that improves the officiating is fine with me. Hopefully we will see a difference this year.

I have 2 issues with CFL officiating. The first being when the head ref seems very confused in making his call over the mic. That falls on said official.

The other being the way roughing the passer is often called. I get that QB's are supposed to be protected, but I've literally seen a player trying to avoid a QB and barely even touching him called as a RTP. That is ridiculous. That falls on Johnson for poor interpretation of what the call should be.

This is one of my biggest issues with Johnson. I recall he was asked about the roughing the passing call on a CFL on TSN segment and Johnson's reply was "we're not calling it any different".

Which was a blatant lie. All you need to do is look at games from 5 years ago to know it's being called differently.

Agree with your statements Angelo, but if your going to get RTP penalty you might as well step into the QB and get your money's worth.
RTP in the NFL seems to be called when justified much like the CFL was a few years ago.

Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) President Paul Melia discusses in the following article what he likes about the new policy but feels it needs to be more transparent and independent.

Exactly. As someone who watches and enjoys both leagues, it's very frustrating seeing what is called RTP sometimes in the CFL. There used to be a 2 step rule after the ball was released. Then it became 1 step, and now it appears to be none.

Does this mean that AV's favourite CFL official, Tom Valessi has been promoted to the NFL??

Now even when the defender in the CFL tries to avoid the QB and bumps him he gets flagged, this is beyond stupid and involves zero common sense.
I will give Orridge credit on this initiative for acknowledging what us fans have known for quite sometime, CFL officiating has been embarrassing for the last few seasons and badly needs improvement if they want any credibility moving forward.

Hey...Foxcroft is my favourite. He was the ring announcer when I did some local cable wrestling shows in Hamilton in the 90's, while his brother Steve and Bubba O'Neil called the action.

Funny story...I give Foxcroft crap on twitter all the time, and he pm's me and asks me to give it to Valessi.

Vallesi deserves it. He was horrible - especially during Argonaut games for some reason.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear anything about US officials working in tonight's game. I'm sure Rod Black would have been all over it, if there was any. Maybe we will see them more on week end games.
