Didn't know where to put this, but I'm happy to see the team doing these types of things.

Cool. Good move to give away pre-season game tickets to this group.

Agreed. For the preseason game, you might as well give away more that 5K tickets just to get people in the seats.

I hate to admit that I watched "The Social" on CTV a couple of weeks back but I did. Anyway, they were giving away tickets to a Hamilton/Toronto game - and I am assuming it was the preseason game - to the entire studio audience who seemed quite thrilled by that.

I also agree giving away tickets to the pre-season game makes sense but as a season ticket holder I feel slightly ripped off paying full price for it.

I don't think you paid full price for the preseason game as that game was priced at approx. half what a ssh holder pays for a regular game . It identifies/breaks down the price on the chart for ssh's in regard what is paid for preseason , regular season and playoff game (s).

In Hamilton we pay the same for a preseason game as we pay for a regular game.

Another thing to do would be to allow season seat holders the option to request additional free tickets to the pre-season game so it doesn't feel like they are getting ripped off. I think the ticats have done this.

I like the move by the team. For a pre-season game I don't mind giveaways like this. Even as a STH it doesn't bother me. Just looking at the 4 visible tickets, they are for section 111, rows 16 and presumably back from there. Doubt there are many STs there anyways if at all.

A good way to give back to the community and build new fans.

Yeah, I don't see how I'm being ripped off by the team giving away tickets to youth and using their media outlets (one being "The Social" as Ravi points out) to give out tickets. All teams do these types of things - TSN 1050 gives out Raps and Leafs tickets every week - MuchMusic (owned by Bell) has done it as well from time to time. IIRC Bob Young brought up during an interview that the average ticket giveaways work out to around 10-15% in most leagues.

Hopefully, but since the preseason game is included in Season Tickets sales I think that it's safe to say that we're nowhere near 15,000.

At least give the tickets away to adults that show up and buy a lot of beer at least they will spend money on them $11 beers when they get into the stadium. Kids don't buy anything, they will be running around or stuck to their Iphones and not paying attention to the game.
