They're playing in the English 3rd Division apparently. How will a 3rd Div team be able to afford flights to Canada?

The Wolfpack are paying the flights for visiting teams. It will certainly be an interesting new venture. Rugby League is an exciting and hard hitting sport. Similar to CFL in many ways but without helmets. If you're interested in finding out more, can go to the fan group -

Toronto Wolfpack: The beginning of something special

    https://youtu.be/yIX7HH4Ki08

    HC Paul Rowley

It looks like the team is over the U.K. training and playing friendlies before the season starts January 20th. They have a long road trip until May 6th . Then they'll return to Toronto and play at Lampart Stadium.

    https://www.torontowolfpack.com/schedule/

I hope it works out as it looks like a lot of fun. Interestingly, we shared a hotel with the Catalonia Dragons in Manchester when they we in town to St. Helens. They are also in the 3rd Tier with the Wolfpack. It struck me then that these young men reminded me a lot of CFL players. Still approachable, playing the game they love and are modestly recompensed.

Best seats Season tickets will set you back $199 each for 14 games. At 15 per game, they're charging the price of one beer at BMO Field. It might be the best value in town.

    https://www.torontowolfpack.com

I wonder if there would be any synergies with the Argos?

Toronto Wolfpack have an exception from the RFL Salary Cap of $4.4 million USD and will start with mainly English players but one goal is to develop 5-6 Canadian players. Other goal is to move up to the Super League.

Looked at Hull FC website and noticed Hull has been in existence since 1865. Celebrated 150 years last year. Top ticket prices £16 ($27 CDN). Children's tickets can be had for £5 ($8). Very interesting.

They have sold about 6k in season tickets so far.. It will not surprise me to see them at BMO Field if they make it up to the Super League ( which is the goal)

Maybe the Wolves and Argos could share a downtown practice facility? Their 5 week on and 5 week off trans-Atlantic schedule could be interesting for that combination? Their home stint ends at the beginning of CFL season.

Personally I would doubt those numbers. I used to play Rugby League in Toronto under the CRL. Some of the same people in this venture were a part of it. I personally don't trust any numbers they put out. I'll take the wait and see approach to how they actually draw once play starts.

But on the bright side they managed to get (abet at the very very end of his playing days) one of my all time favourite RL players FuiFui MoiMoi a player so nice they named him twice. Saw him play few years ago in Parramata live, just at the end of his top tier days. Looking forward to seeing him play here as well.

That they are. Rugby League is very much geographically confined to a smallish corridor of Northern England and this idea of transatlantic team is very fascinating to their idea of expanding the sport. I follow League and this has been talk of the "town" in those circles. But sadly the RFL has many issues on its hands with the clubs that are local and having challenges. The money up-front pay for everything approach of the TO group has them swayed but it's a distraction (abet a fun one) from some of the issues they face with the sport of Rugby League.

I read while in the U.K. They are training at the Bradford facility. Bradford who I believe are currently under administration.

Toronto's financial backer is an Australian based in London who made his money in. It seems it took $2 million in startup funding. Not too bad.

History of TO WolfPack on YouTube. Talks about where CFL fits in with RFL in Canada.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PIlV68mYc4&sns=em

Eric Perez is a first rate marketing guy. Has a ton of press in their first year in both the U.K. And GTA. He claims all 2017 games will be televised on SKY in the U.K. and a national cable sports channel. Bit vague on Canadian coverage. Will likely pay for the coverage in 2017?

Yes they're training at Bradford. Shame about Bradford a club with over 100 years of history is in liquidation. I did find it curious that their backer who wants a Super League club did just but the Bulls outright. They have history and a fan base as well as easier access back to the Top league, they're only out due to finances.

Sorry I just couldn't listen to 50+ min of Mr. Perez. A bit overwhelming.

Their Pres has been 90% in UK for them as it should be, it's big news in Northern UK. I wonder what they'll workout for the TO market in terms of showing games. They did a few years ago manage to get a few National Team games to Sportnet World (the pay-per-view one) on significant tape delay. Done at cost by basically one man, one camera and one voice over. I hope it improves in terms of coverage from that point.

We're excited about Rugby League here in Canada. My wife is from Manchester and with our son and daughter, spend some time every year in Northern England, and catch some Man City FC games. Our boy plays both rep. football and HS rugby. We've got a couple of birthdays to celebrate the first week of February and are seriously considering hopping over and catch matches:

    RFL - Wolfpack;
    EPL - City FC; and
    Championship - Wigan FC.

It should breakup the winter and the long wait until CFL training camp.

Sounds like a Great time. Im not a soccer fan, find it very difficult to watch. But my winter weekend are spent waiting up very early to stream RFL super League and watch St Helens and staying up late streaming Nrl.

Fantastic game and worth a watch.
