Drop this garbage. Attendance has nothing to do with the name change with the exception of maybe 500 or so (likely racist) morons that actually take offence. I'm only going to say this once, if even 1 person of native decent is offended, then the name change was the right move. I think it's possible to be unhappy about the name change without being a racist moron.

I think comfort in familiarity is just human nature. You grow up with something, and then it changes. People naturally get bummed out when that happens.

It also doesn't help when the new name isn't that great.

Branding is HUGE. Having connections to the marketplace is HUGE. Severing lifelong relationships is HUGE. The name change had a much bigger effect than 500 people, I'd be willing to bet.

Well, I am glad I didn't post. I had it all written out trying to use general terms and not be political before the usual suspect started with the pejorative authoritarian name calling rather than considering the point.
