Kicker Sergio Castillo, whose signing with Winnipeg last year helped them have a reliable kicker for the Grey Cup drive after a trade with BC, signed a two year contract with the Elks in March.
And the Martavis Bryant saga possibly finally comes to an end. Elks have released him. Greatest player to sign and never set foot in Canada.

And Trader Jones starts off the draft trading for a #1 pick and trading away the first overall pick.
Jones describes their first round pick as a Swiss army knife on defence, versatility being something Jones loves.

Former SFU and Stampeder Canadian RB Ante Milanovic-Litre looked like a bulldozer on his four carries for 34 yards in the Elks game against Hamilton.
Ricky Ray will deservedly added to Edmonton's Green and Gold Canadian Football Hall of Fame QB club, as well as the Argos list of HOFers, on September 16th. Four of the top ten QBs in passing yardage played for both Edmonton and Toronto (the others being Allen, Dunigan and Ham).

Commonwealth almost empty for the Edmonton-Calgary game tonight, troubling for the league considering the rivalry between these two franchises.

Even worse for the Elks tonight is that they lost their two young QBs, whom Chris Jones clearly favours, in Canadian Tre Ford and Kyle Locksley. Both seemed to sustain shoulder injuries that, I suspect, will keep them out for a bit. The domino effect is that I can see the Alouettes making another stupid move and trading Vernon Adams Jr. to the Elks which won't do that Montreal franchise any favours.
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Tre Ford out for a couple of weeks minimum with a collarbone injury.

So, are we done complaining about the players the Argos released and traded that are now on the Elks roster?

You threw me off because you said Lions roster, not Riders, so Hughes never cam into my mind. But I still maintain the Argos kept who they believe were the better corners over the ones they let go, and nothing thus far has proven them wrong other than one of the 3 went down in game 1. I would tend to agree with not liking the moves if the players were guys that had been here for a while and developed roots in the city (Alden Darby), but I have no issue with the moves they make. And as I stated previously, it's hard to keep guys around that have lost their starting positions as back ups. I think you have really underestimated this part of it.

I just think there is no good reason for a team with Grey Cup aspirations to voluntarily forgo depth. None of the guys let go was an established starter, and at least two of them (Pipkin and Worthy) had long since established their team-first approach. If Collins or Decoud or Ivey were going to be bad teammates if they sat on IR, then sure, get rid of them. But we have no evidence I'm aware of that that was likely. And almost the instant we let them go, we ran into injuries at their positions, with little or no experience available to replace them.
