The Ticats cut three internationals just before playing Ottawa: DBs Terrence Frederick and Khadlid Wooten and WR Gerell Robinson on Thursday. After losing to Ottawa by 19 points and with sixteen days before their next game against the Argos, more changes are likely coming as the Austin will have time to introduce them into the lineup.

Hamilton has obtained WR Ricky Collins in a trade with the Riders for DE Mike McAdoo.

Collins, 25, played 14 regular season games in 2016 with 13 starts, registering 48 receptions for 720 yards and two touchdowns. He has played in just one game this season, suffering a shoulder injury in the season-opener against the Montreal Alouettes. ...

McAdoo, 27, attended training camp with Ticats and was released after training camp only to be re-signed on Aug. 7. He has yet to appear in a CFL game this season but played two games with Winnipeg in 2013,registering one tackle and one sack.

Edmonton has traded WR Shamawd Chambers to the Tiger Cats for a seventh round pick in 2018 and a fifth rounder in 2019. Selected sixth overall in 2012 and ranked third overall in the CFL draft that year, Chambers has never lived up to his potential.

The 28-year-old pass target played in six of the Eskimos 12 games this season, making four receptions for 40 yards.
Chambers won a Grey Cup with Edmonton in 2015, earning Most Valuable Canadian honours. Overall, he’s played in 70 career games catching 141 passes for 1,543 yards and eight touchdowns. Chambers was drafted in the first round, sixth overall by Edmonton in the 2012 CFL draft, current Ticats general manager Eric Tillman was the Eskimos GM at the time.
The Wilfrid Laurier product has all the physical tools to succeed in the pros. He’s six-foot-three, 219 pounds, 4.42-seconds in the 40-yard dash at the 2012 CFL combine along with a 38.5-inch vertical.

WR Andy Fantuz, who, after a torn ACL injury last year, was "retired" in May of this year and acting as Hamilton's Coordinator of Player Development, has signed a practice roster agreement with the team. However he will not play this week according to HC June Jones.

Ti-Cats catch another break with the suspension of Mike Jones due to failed drug test. Must have been a recreational drug. Based on his play this year, no chance it was a performance enhancing drug.

Wonder if Fantuz has lost (another) step because of this injury. Expect he will make his 2017 debut against the Argos on the 30th.

I had a chuckle when I saw that.

The Ticats were so desperate at Canadian receiver.

Don't know if Chambers if much of an upgrade over Mike Jones - maybe similar - great speed but not polished receivers and iffy hands. Maybe they should trade to get board-hands Bkhari Grant back from the Riders and he could fit the ball - get way more passes thrown his way and drop way more.

Aprile & Faubert-Lussier were on the roster as NI receivers but hurt and undrafted Mitchell Baines played last game for them.

They miss Fantuz for sure and him going back even close to form would be huge for them.

If they need to stick an NI receiver at the little used wide-side WR spot to just run clearing routes - then they could find lots of receivers off the street to do that.

They are missing 3 NI DTs (Laurent, Atkinson & Gill) who could hold down one NI spot at DT to help them get to 7 only; and a dullard like June Jones is going to have "ratio problems" anyways.

Board hands? Grant is having a very good year, and is 3rd in the league in YAC yards

Grant drops almost as many passes as Mo Mann did in the CFL - and still gets more chances, as Mann did

Duron Carter drops passes galore too, but at least has that great catch radius / big play & circus catch ability and is a deep threat.

Boardhands Grant is good for some receptions in lots of target chances thrown right into his bread-basket, along with all the drops, but offers pretty well zip in terms of big-play or speed or tough catch ability - he gets repeat chances due to his passport.

You do realize that Grant has the 2nd highest percentage of receptions to targets among the top 13 receivers in the league right? Is also on pace for 1150 yards.

Another couple of drops for Boardhands last game vs, the Stumps; if he "were a Canadian" he would be a little used back-up.

Mike Jones has been dropping footballs all season and it took far too long before he saw the bench in Hamilton.
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

SO - receivers who drop passes should be cut ?

Then an outstanding talent like SJ Green - who has uncharacteristically way too many drops this season - should be cut too?

All receivers end up dropping some passes - and Mike Jones has struggled this year, IMO coulda been cut or demoted from playing time - but the great receivers don't drop very many and this is measured over LOTS of opportunity / passes directed their way - think Ben Cahoon (who I'm sure dropped a few passes in his career - but not many over years & years of playing).

And some receivers might be excused a few drops because they have big-play ability or circus catch skills or are speedy deep threats or great at YAC yards, to go along with just decent or average hands. Duron Carter is IMO a great example now of a big play / huge talent type receiver, but he still drops wayyyyy too many passes (along with being an @$$-hat/clown) - some teams will always want a guy like that in their receiving corps (not as a #1 or even #2 target on a good team though IMO). But if you drop passes galore, season after season, and don't bring any big play or deep threat ability, and are still getting plenty of playing time - not sure i get that.

My point here would be, that certain receivers get judged very harshly for a few drops and in very limited opportunity, while others seem to get a free pass on some drops and get handed more playing time - Bkhari Grant, Mo Mann or Khalil Paden for example, with multiple CFL teams. Gee, I wonder why that is? - that certain players draw criticism or are judged more harshly than others ? Maybe something on their resumes ?

Oh, so you know the answer? - not willing to share though ?

And just FYI - of your list there - Getzlaf was/is the only receiver there who was even close to targeted lots in a CFL offence - and had some drops issues, but also put up a thousand yard season plus some big play ability; the rest of the list were more like 5th option receiver at best or back-ups in their CFL playing time (and Coehorn had few drops issues that i recall; Giguere would have been cut after one season after showing bad hands and that he could do little with his speed, if i was a CFL GM or HC).

None of those guys are of course near Boardhands Grant or Khalil Paden or Mo Mann or Demeitrious Bendrops, etc. etc etc. level talent to be handed starting jobs with repeat CFL teams though.
