After letting Brett Maher go through free agency, the Tiger Cats continue to look for a kicker. They have signed Jordan Gay after bringing him to rookie camp without a contract.

Gay, who was on the Ticats neg list, spent time on the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants practice roster and landed with Buffalo after the Bills claimed him off waivers in August 2014. He was used as a kick-off specialist playing in 33 games for Buffalo through three seasons. He was released in December and been a free agent since.
Gay was one of seven kickers the Ticats brought to Hamilton in April and was thought to be in the mix for a training camp invite, along with former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Sergio Castillo and former Arena leaguer Craig Peterson, who Tweeted he’d signed with the club. The team also held a workout for Canadian kickers earlier this month.

By signing Andy Fantuz as a Coordinator of Player Development, Fantuz's salary does not count towards the salary cap until he starts playing, which he still wants to do. Placing him on the six game injured list would count in terms of the salary cap if he came back early from the injury. Hamilton could also fiddle with his salary by front-loading the "Coordinator" salary and giving him a minimal salary if he becomes a player, thereby decreasing the hit on the salary cap. The league needs to look at this, otherwise other teams will start playing monkey see, monkey do.

I think this is a co-promotion between the Argos and the Ticats so the Argos deserve some credit here in addition to the Ticats. I think it is a great idea.

Hamilton has added a KR/WR. Jalen Saunders, with NFL game experience but a substance abuse suspension and a second receiver, Gavin Lutman, with NFL/CFL PR time.

Jalen Saunders appeared in nine NFL games in 2014 with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints registering 15 punt returns for 125 yards (8.3 average) and three kickoff returns for 139 yards (46.3 average). He also had one reception for eight yards. The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine and was selected by the Jets in the fourth round, 104th overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears during his three-year NFL career. While on the Bears practice squad in December of 2015, the 24-year-old Saunders was suspended 10-games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He’s been on the Ticats neg list since late last year.
The second receiver is 6-foot-2, 211 pound Gavin Lutman who spent four weeks on the Tiger-Cats practice roster late last season. He spent time with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans during the 2015 season but did not play. Prior to turning pro, Lutman played 45 games, starting 32 times, at Pittsburg State University (2010-14), where he hauled in 130 receptions for 2,068 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Tiger Cat OL Jake Olson has decided to retire.

The 28-year-old suffered a torn patella in September of 2015 and the team kept him on the roster for all of last year as he rehabbed from the injury, hoping he could make a late-season return that never materialized.
But sources say the knee has yet to fully heal and Olson recently became a father for the first time. Those two factors led to his decision to call it quits.
Olson started 21 games over two seasons with the Ticats and was thought to be candidate for a starting job coming into training camp.

Surprisingly, no chatter about this here yet. I'm still high on Kilgore and would not be the least bit surprised to see him do well there, eventually. I think he's pretty well guaranteed to get a few game cheques as QB3 because Golson is hurt.

You're telling me. Keith and Kilgore both looked awful last night though to be fair Kilgore has been in camp for a couple of days only.

Former Argo QB and "Run and Shoot" proponent June Jones added to Hamilton's coaching staff.
The guy I feel sorry for is Stef Ptaszek who left a good gig at Mac to go to Hamilton as Kent Austin's fall guy.

The title of this thread was given because so many Argo fans hate the Ticats. Now there is another reason for the title, according to Rick Zamperin

The Ticats have once again become the laughingstock of the Canadian Football League.

Nobody in Hamilton wants to admit that, let alone even think that, but the proof is in the pudding.

Zero wins, seven losses, coaching changes, lineup changes, and despite a couple of near wins against Edmonton, Hamilton hasn’t been a competitive unit in 2017.

You can blame head coach Kent Austin, or the recruiting staff, or the offensive line, or the defence, or even the water boy. But fans know that you win as a team and you lose as a team, and the 2017 Tiger-Cats have the losing thing down pat.

The sad part is “fixing” just one part of this team isn’t going to fix this mess.

Hamilton has lost their last 10 games dating back to last season, which includes the Eastern Division Semifinal vs. the Eskimos. In their last 18 games, the Cats have come away with a victory just three times.

They should be, I say “should be,” better than 3-15. And so much for home cookin’. The Ticats have lost their last eight games at Tim Hortons Field. In essence, the last eight times that you have dug deep into your pocket to pay to be entertained by the Black & Gold, you’ve likely come away with a bad taste in your mouth.
