Steinauer returning to the Ticats as Assistant Head Coach. I'm a little surprised by this since Steinaeur continually brought up how many more opportunities there were in the States, maybe just wanted to come back home ?

Very surprised. Fresno State had a very good season and I figured that may lead to him getting a HC job in the NCAA down the road. I wonder if it was Austin or Jones that reached out to him.

The surprises just keep coming this off season. Great guy Orlando. I guess the only thing better for him is if he came back as DC for the Argos. lol
But I can see him being pointed to the HC job in Hamilton down the road.

Just wondering, but has the pay scale for Coaches and assistants in the CFL gone up lately?

Good question. IIRC, there were rumblings that Steinauer like Condell left Hamilton due to Austin's shtick wearing thin. The timing of him coming back is interesting, and I suspect that Steinauer is Jones' succession plan.

I'm interested to see if Austin is still in Hamilton for 2019.

Could it also be that Steinauer's family did not like life south of the border?

Probably a big reason why the Ticats wanted Steinuaer back.

Randy Ambrosie's road trip came to Hamilton last night. The 200 STHs asked when the Grey Cup game would be coming to Hamilton, what is being done about the officiating, about the schedule should be moved up. Ambrosie indicated there would be a week-long extension of the 2017 Diversity is Strength program and a brief discussion of collective bargaining with the CFLPA.

Can’t figure Hamilton’s strategy out TBH other than the fact June Jones is giving his cronies jobs in Hamilton.
Lolley did a more than decent job as Ticat DC when he assumed the DC job later last season.
Incredible Jones would consider a 76 year old coach who has no CFL experience and has been out of football for several years his best option as DC?

The Tiger Cats have cut four players: International kicker Sergio Castillo, National DL Ben D'Aguilar, kicker/punter Kenny Allen who replaced Castillo after he was injured in October, and International RB Raion Neal, who was on the team's PR.

Castillo, 27, made 29-of-34 field goal attempts lith Hamilton while also registering a 45.1-yard punting average in 14 games last season. He appeared in four games with Winnipeg in 2015 before playing two contests the following season with Ottawa.
The six-foot-two, 235-pound D'Aguilar appeared in six games last year with Hamilton, registering one defensive tackle. The 28-year-old Hamilton native began his CFL career with Calgary, spending parts of five seasons with the Stampeders before being released.
Allen made 11-of-12 field goals he attempted in four games last year with Hamilton. He also had 25 kickoffs.

Too bad the Ottawa Sun's Earl McRae passed away a few years back as he would have had fun with Glanville, given that both of them claimed (hoped?) that Elvis Presley is still alive. McRae claimed that Elvis lives in Tweed, Ontario (even appeared on Jerry Springer's show back in the early 1990s to make this claim) so Glanville should ensure that he leaves tickets for Elvis for road games in Toronto and Ottawa this season just in case.

Hamilton has added four Internationals to its roster: DE Julian Howsare, LB Junior Sylvestre, DB Jumal Rolle, and WR Harvey Winford. Rolle has had the most game action in the NFL having played 19 games, but none since 2015. The others have attended NFL TCs but limited to no game action. Their profiles are at the url below.

If former Olympic bronze medal winner Akeem Haynes can make the Tiger Cats, Hamilton will have a truly dynamic and speedy duo with Haynes and Banks at WR. The trouble is the record of converted sprinters in football is not a great one, especially when they did not play college football.

National DL Nathan Shepherd who wss on Hamilton' list of ten released names on their negotiation list is also the only Canadian at the NFL Combine in 2018. However, if his performance there leads to him possibly being drafted in the second or third round as one draft analyst predicted, the Tiger Cats may never get a chance to sign him.

He put on an impressive performance that has experts raving about his potential — something the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have already identified. ...
Shepherd began his collegiate career at Simon Fraser University in 2012, but played just one season due to financial pressures.
"I wasn't able to afford to go there anymore. I took some time off, worked for a few jobs. I worked at a plant nursery and in electrical construction," Shepherd told the Toronto Sun, adding that he also worked a factory job back home in Toronto. ...

After two years, Shepherd had saved enough to return to school and enrolled at a little-known junior college, Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas. He walked on for the 2015 season, paying for his first semester, before earning a scholarship the following the season.
But it was his 2017 campaign that really put Shepherd in the map. The powerful defensive lineman made 38 tackles, 12.5 for a loss and registered four sacks, earning Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Defensive Player of the Year and NCAA Division III All-American honours.
He was a key piece on the Tigers team that went 11-0 and won its first MIAA Championship. ...

"NFL body, NFL movement skills. He's a powerful man and very raw. A guy that could affect quarterbacks and the run game," Mayock said, adding that Shepherd could be selected as high as the second or third round of the NFL Draft in April. ...
    .
"What stands out is his overall athleticism for his size; and he's able to combine that with explosive power," Austin said. "You need to have guys that can push the pocket on the inside and he has the ability to do that."
