Determining who won and lost in a trade normally takes years. However, this certainly this has the potential to be disastrous for Montreal. With Rice back in Hamilton at no cost to the Tiger Cats, the Als are left with former Argo Tony Washington, who has been a good OL but is 32 and not likely to be part of the long-term future of the Als, and Manziel, who may develop into a very good CFL QB but is now facing concussion issues that could be recurring, as has happened with some players. Furthermore, Manziel may not even end up being the QB of the future for the Als if Pipkin develops to his full potential and, even if Pipkin does not succeed, there is no guarantee that Manziel will either. Meanwhile the Tiger Cats have an excellent Canadian starter, Jamaal Westerman, Chris Williams, whose ACL injury has finished his season but could return next year, and two first round draft choices in 2019 and 2020 that could have been potentially very helpful in rebuilding the weak Montreal teams.

The Tiger Cats indoor training facility called Players Paradise Sports Complex is going to be turned into a marijuana grow operation, leaving the team looking for a new indoor home. The change in function would represent a different kind of Paradise for some people.

Chris Williams' season-ending ACL injury and Jalen Saunders being out for an indefinite period leaves the Ticats looking at possible replacement options including:

Terrence Toliver has been one of the team’s designated imports for most of the season and could easily be inserted into the starting lineup on a full-time basis. ...

The other internal option is to activate one of the team’s rookie wideouts, Rashad Lawrence or Cameron Echols-Looper, from the practice roster. Echols-Looper hasn’t seen any action since signing with the Ticats in late July, but Lawrence played in four games earlier this year, registering eight catches for 56 yards and six kick returns for 101 yards in those four games. ...

But that doesn’t mean we can’t look at other, less likely, alternatives from outside the organization. ... [Bakari] Grant, who was one of Saskatchewan’s training camp cuts this year, has inexplicably been a free agent every since. At 31, he is a little older, but his 6’4” frame would be welcome in a receiving corps where the only starter who is currently over 6’ is Terrence Toliver. ...

Another former Ticat who does have the same type of skill set as Williams and is also unemployed is Chad Owens. Owens was, like Grant, a training camp cut of the Riders this year. ...

Lastly, NFL cuts are just around the corner, meaning a lot of players will soon find themselves looking for work. ... The Ticats could use this route to find Williams’ replacement, with players like 2018 No. 1 overall pick Mark Chapman, former Ticat Terrell Sinkfield and last year’s Grey Cup MVP DeVier Posey all possibly becoming available over the next week

International cornerback Jumal Rolle is having a strong first CFL season but is out of consideration for rookie of the year because of his NFL experience.

Cornerback Jumal Rolle is in his first year in the CFL this season and like Leonard is enjoying a strong campaign. Through nine games Rolle leads the Ticats in picks with two and has 21 tackles, more than anyone else in the Ticats secondary other than safety Mike Daly.
Those numbers are good but he won’t be vying for rookie honours because of his 18 career games played in the NFL on his resume. ...

Rolle arrived already matured with five seasons in the NFL, most of it on practice rosters, but among the 18 games he did play were a shining six-game period in Houston when he picked up three interceptions and appeared to have finally locked down some security in a league where security is fleeting. Undrafted out of Catawba, a small private coeducational college in Salisbury, N.C., Rolle knew exactly what lay ahead of him if he hoped to make a career in the NFL. From 2013 through 2017 he was with five different teams including the Buffalo Bills twice, most of it on one practice roster or another with the exception of short, active stints with Houston, Green Bay and Baltimore among which his 18 games were played. Over those five years he was cut five times. ...

But eventually the opportunity to play at that level became less and less and that was when Rolle started to seriously consider the CFL.
“The game is still fun to me and I knew I was going to have an opportunity to play here,” he said of making the decision to change course. “So I wanted to continue my career. I had a chance to go to Canada to continue to play football and that’s not a bad deal. I’m doing what I want to do.” ...

“Being an undrafted guy you have to have that perseverance and just continue to be ready for the journey,” he said. “You know every opportunity you get you’re going to have to work for it so I knew going in it was possible I would be bouncing around. But I enjoyed the journey. I enjoyed going to all those teams and learning from all those coaches and being in the locker room with future Hall of Famers. I knew that was part of the journey so there was no frustration. I did want to play but all I could do was control what I could. Now I am getting a chance to play and just having a blast at it.”

It also hosts numerous youth and adult soccer leagues, not just teams. Why not change all our indoor sports stadiums to pot fields? If the owners can get bought out with substantial drug money, that's all that matters.

Tiger Cat receivers Chris Williams, Jalen Saunders, and Shamawd Chambers are all out with season ending injuries, opening up a starting spot for International Rashad Lawrence, who has eight catches for 58 yards in four games and six KRs for 101 yards.

The loss of WR Chris Williams and Jalen Saunders has led the Ticats to sign 34 year old former Stampeder Marquay McDaniel, who had 860 yards in receptions last year and 7,301 over his nine year career, to their PR.

Chad Owens added to Ticats PR. With McDaniel and Owens added as of late; I think the League is having trouble bringing in players with the AAF around the corner.

HC June Jones already commented that the CFL is already losing players to the new league. In July he noted that two QBs that he wanted to bring to the Tiger Cats after the Manziel trade indicated they would be trying the Alliance of American Football instead.

The Alliance of American Football League has begun poaching players from CFL.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach June Jones said the team planned to bring in two quarterbacks this week after trading Johnny Manziel to the Montreal Alouettes but the players decided they were going to try their luck with the startup AAF.

Dan Black, the current Pigskin Pete, who has been around in one form or another since the 1920s with Hamilton, has decided to quit citing family reasons, thereby leaving the team searching for a new one.

A lot of Hamilton fans are irate over June Jones punting for a single at the end of regulation time that enabled the Lions to tie the Ticats and then win in overtime.

If this quote is correct you have to wonder if June Jones thinks before he speaks, throwing your kicker under the bus is a curious strategy in explaining his boneheaded decision.
