The Redblacks pulled out a 30-29 victory over Hamilton with just over a minute left FG by Ray Early thanks to QB Ryan Lindley going 16/24 and leading Ottawa to a TD and FG at the end of the game. Former Argo Trevor Harris looked sharp, going 12/15 and a TD.
Ottawa has lost backup QB Drew Tate and DL Matt Albright who was in the defensive line rotation last year for indefinite long-term periods due to injury.
The RedBlacks looked more like doormats than Grey Cup Champions in their 38-5 pre-season loss to Montreal. However, Trevor Harris and Drew Tate, who is injured, did not play. After three quarters Ottawa was -2 yards rushing and 62 yards passing. Danny Collins looked decent passing for 104 yards on 7/13 but Austin Trainor and Ryan Lindley were atrocious.
Mmmmmm.....so Tate has a long term injury? Is there anyone on the Rouge et Noir that we could trade for Willy?
Montreal's interest in Freeman apparently caught Ottawa's attention, if Kavis genuinely had interest he waited too long to take action.

Tori Gurley released by the REDBLACKS
Shakir Bell was also cut. GM Desjardins said there was concerned about ball security with Bell, who fumbled twice in the last preseason game.
AJ Jefferson released. SJ Green just ended his career
I just looked at the replay of the game and he did look bad, he was beaten so many times, one he just fell over and let SJ make an easy reception.
They are going back to the rookie that replaced AJ in week 2. Football is a tough sport you don't perform and you are gone.
I expect the Ticats will pick him up.
Former Bomber Quincy McDuffie, who was released after the 2016 and leading the league in kick return average to try out in the NFL, has been released by the Dallas Cowboys and signed with Ottawa.
RedBlacks expect to get former Argo Kenny Shaw, FB Anthony Gosselin, DE Johathan Newsome this week or next, as injuries have contributed to their poor record.
Maybe so, but the injury point re Ottawa is valid.
PREDICTION Redblacks at 1-5-1 with 11 games left will go 7 and 4
and end up 8-9-1 which will win the East again.
Then just an East Final win on home field, and they're on home field for the Grey Cup.
mark it down now.
Ottawa has been busy in the last week releasing International DBs Imoman Claiborne and Adrian James, National kicker Zack Medeiros, and International WR Cody Hoffman while adding from the injured list former Argo International WR Kenny Shaw, International LB Kevin Brown, National DL Arnaud Gascon-Nadon, International RB William Powell and International OL Jake Silas. Reducing the injured list should help improve team performance.
