Ottawa is expected to hire a new GM by mid-week and to looking to free agency to greatly improve their lineup. Below is a look at some of those potential free agents the Redblacks may pursue.
https://ottawacitizen.com/sports/football/cfl/ottawa-redblacks/free-agent-frenzy-look-for-ottawa-redblacks-to-be-major-players-ahead-of-2022-seasonSo it stands to reason the Ottawa Redblacks will look substantially different when they take the field for the 2022 season. How different they look will be in the hands of whoever is named the Redblacks’ new general manager, a decision which is expected to come down by mid next week. It’s believed the team wrapped up interviews with at least 10 candidates this week, then will pursue second interviews with finalists in the coming few days.
The Redblacks will need to get substantially better on the offensive line and at receiver. Add a veteran quarterback to the wishlist. So, with that in mind, top targets could include B.C.’s Bryan Burnham and Lucky Whitehead, Calgary’s Reggie Begelton, Winnipeg’s Kenny Lawler, Montreal’s Jake Wieneke and Saskatchewan’s Shaq Evans or Duke Williams. Offensive linemen Stanley Bryant or Brandon Revenberg would be great gets if they are available. Quarterbacks on the market will likely include Trevor Harris and either Dane Evans or Jeremiah Masoli. Or what kind of money would Zach Collaros get if he left Winnipeg?
Make it official.

Pretty solid hire by Ottawa, I wondered when either Burke or Allemang would shake loose from Hamilton.

Didn't 3Down recently report that LaPo is really hoping to get Chris Strevler in as his starting QB (if he runs of of NFL luck) ?
I doubt Strevler is going to show up in the CFL again for back-up money or a back-up (package QB) role ? More like he will expect to be anointed starter; i wonder if LaPo would turn up his nose at either or both of Evans/Masoli in favor of Strevler; ? LOL if so.
I tend to agree with you Ravi; though it was a fairly small sample size we saw of him - I doubt his passing - reads & accuracy - ability.
But, maybe LaPo thinks he IS a potential very good CFL QB ? He thought a proven stiff like Dom Davis should be starting for the RedBlacks this season = just brutal; and he had him in Winnipeg as well as Strevler.
As expected Ottawa on a terrible team has been doing massive releases and signings, with KR/RB Terry Williams being the most prominent signing. The media releases include:

The Redblacks have signed Canadians six year veteran OL Jacob Ruby, who played only 3 games last year but played 17 in 2019 with the Elks, and WR Nate Behar, who had his career best year in receptions (38), yards (439), YAC (128), average yards (11.9) in 2021.
Ottawa has released their best player KRWR Devonte Dedmon to pursue NFL opportunities. Against the Argos, he became the fastest player to reach five career return TDs, doing so in just 15 games. If he doesn't come back quickly, there will be an enormous hole to fill in an already weak lineup.
The Redblacks will sign Masoli and he'll join Caleb Evans and 'Duck' Hodges as the Ottawa QBs. It's a risk for the Redblacks considering Masoli had a bit of an off year in 2021 and the Redblacks do need to improve their roster generally speaking as well, but they shouldn't be the black hole at QB that they were in 2021.

I expect the RedBlacks to really improve their receivers group this year. I expect them to sign both Greg Ellingson and Jaelon Acklin, and wouldn't be surprised if they've already signed Speedy B. I also expect Ryan Davis to have a big 2nd year. He looked so good at times as a rookie. They will likely be active in the FA market across the O-line as well.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Redblacks reach agreement with Boateng and Noel. Don't blame Noel for leaving. He was underused as a receiver by the Argos and I think he will do well with the Redblacks.

Depends on who else the RedBlacks bring in at receiver (added Acklin as well apparently) and where Noel would get to line-up at receiver; if they stick him at little used wide-side WR, don't expect much; if he lines-up at slotback and gets targeted lots, he could put up big numbers maybe. Problem is, not many Canadian receivers now in the trendy CFL are going to be 1 thru 3 type in the corps in terms of targets = hard to put up star numbers that way. Sinopoli sure was for Ottawa and put up outstanding #s. Gittens might be headed that way for the Argos O ? Ultra limited CFL "thinkers" might still see putting a Canadian at wide-side WR as a simple way to get to their 7 only need apply - Ticats & Als lately as examples.
It looks like the Redblacks will add Acklin at receiver. My Ticat fan friend is concerned that it may turn into an Ellingson Part 2 situation.
