At least a bit of good news for RedBlacks fans in their early off-season : OC Khari Jones has been fired = thank gawd; that simpleton offence was painful to watch this past season.

Next up should be his buddy B. Miles who ran a real brain-dead defence.

Ottawa placed four players on the East Division All-Stars.

Receiver Justin Hardy, defensive lineman Bryce Carter, defensive back Brandin Dandridge, and punter Richie Leone have been recognized for their outstanding performances during the season, and have been named to this year’s All-Star squad. Hardy, 31, earns his first All-Star nod, in just his second CFL season. The Washington, D.C. product broke the 1,000-yard plateau for the first time, hauling in 85 passes for 1,009 yards, and three touchdowns. He heads two games of 100+ yards through the air, and made a career-long 54-yard touchdown catch in Week 19 at Toronto.

Bryce Carter, 25, broke out with 12 sacks in his sophomore season, finishing tied for second in the CFL. A native of Steelton, Pennsylvania, Carter also ended the year with 31 defensive tackles, and two forced fumbles. He set a new single-game career high in the REDBLACKS’ Week 16 win over Saskatchewan, getting to the quarterback three times.

Brandin Dandridge, 27, enjoyed an outstanding defensive season; with five interceptions, a pick six, a forced fumble, and 24 defensive tackles. He also made equally significant contributions in the return game, as when DeVonte Dedmon went down with an early-season injury, Dandridge immediately stepped in, and the Lee’s Summit, Missouri native returned a punt 79 yards to the endzone in Week 2 vs Calgary. Dandridge racked up a total of 867 return yards, in just 13 games.

Richie Leone, 31, is now a six-time divisional All-Star, and four-time East All-Star, having earned the honour with the REDBLACKS in 2018, 2019, 2021, and now 2023. The Roswell, Georgia native appeared in all 18 games, totaling 5,567 punt yards, including a a pair of 74-yarders.

His play calling and in game adjustments were pretty poor at best especially at the tail end of his tenure in Hamilton.

I’m not buying that, Hamilton’s offence was noticeably better when Milanovich took over from Condell.

Maybe not the right personnel of what he likes to do. Sometimes, just a different voice makes a difference. I think they are both bright guys.

I think they will also sign Dru Brown and Masoli will be a vet back up....as soon as he can return.

Yeah, that seems almost preordained. Which means that eventually (when Masoli gets healthy) one of Adams or Crum (likely Adams) will either need to be stashed on IR or be lost on waivers. I'd be interested in getting either of those guys, but I imagine Burke has a plan to keep all four through the season.

The thig with Crumb, i don't ever see him as a viable #1. Everything about him reminds me of Chris Streveler. Gutsy, touch runner, but not a great passer. His delivery is way too slow.

I'm not so sure Ottawa will be that interested in Dru Brown - who was IMO very impressive last season (but playing in a sharp, smart offence - as was the young Argo back-up QB); unless maybe they can get him at a fairly low price tag, less than what other interested suitors will be willing to pay cause Brown would view it as a good fit ?

IMO, IF Masoli can get healthy enough (very iffy maybe) he will be the Ottawa starting QB, reunited with his old OC Condell who he had success with; with young Crum (IMO does have very good future starting QB potential - a dual threat and his passing arm was pretty good mostly), and maybe Adams as well viewed as a good young depth QBs

Masoli won't even be able to play until August or September at the earliest and he hasn't played a lot since 2019. Counting on him is beyond foolish IMO.

Where did u get that medical report from?

And so they re-structured / kept him around just to save the roster bonu$ and to have a distraction for the team ?

The Pussycats counting on the over-rated / over the hill/ damaged goods Bo last season was way beyond foolish then.

That medical report has been reported in the media. The latest article I saw indicated that they are bringing Masoli back for his dressing room influence, mentoring the younger QBs, and as depth just in case.
