With MLB Khalil Bass leaving the Bombers in free agency to sign with the RedBlacks, MLB is likely to be one of the biggest Bomber TC battles.

mport Kyle Knox, who played 11 games with the Bombers last year (mostly on special teams) and Canadian Sam Hurl have experience on their side but there are others who will get a chance to be the quarterback of the defence.
Among the contenders is Nick Temple, who played in one game on special teams last year and has been through the Bombers mini-camp and rookie camp already this spring.
“I’m ready for the privilege of just getting to compete for that spot,” Temple said Friday at the conclusion of rookie camp. “When the vets get here it’s going to be fast and it’s going to be great.”

Despite kicking a CFL record 60 FGs last year, Former Argo kicker is working on improving his kicking, specifically by getting off to a better start to the season and hitting the ball more solidly off a tee.

Former Argo Dan LeFevour looked good going 7/9 and 2 TDs in Bombers 25-25 tie with the Riders. Dominique Davis also showed improvement going 5/8 for 90 yards.

Winnipeg 38 Edmonton 38. Another game, another tie. When was the last time that a CFL team was involved in consecutive ties in the preseason or regular season?

Matt Nichols looked pretty good for the Bombers:

    19/24, 227, 2 TD's in only 1 half of action.

The most well known Bomber cut was Kenny Stafford who was immediately signed by the Eskimos. First overall draft choice OL Faith Ekakatie made the active roster, while 15th overall selection OL Qadr Spooner made the PR.

A big shout out to Leo Ezerins and his induction into Grid Iron Greats Hall of Fame Class of 2017 this weekend in Las Vegas. His class included Steelers Franco Harris. Too bad respect for the CFL often ends south of the border.

Andrew Harris is on a record-setting pace for pass receptions for a RB, after catching 37 passes in 5 games. At this rate he would catch 133 passes over the season, smashing Craig Ellis' 102 RB receptions record set in 1985.

First, some of the why behind Harris’ early season uptick in receptions:
“Andrew’s touches are high for three reasons, I would say,” began Bombers offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice after practice on Tuesday. “One, we throw him the football. We literally don’t care what the coverage is, we have concepts that receivers would do that we call to Andrew because we think we can get a mismatch.
“Two, some of our run game to tailbacks is classified as a pass. And three, we’ll check the ball down to him when people drop into coverage. Those three things up his catches.”

According to 3downnation, 2017 second round draft choice OL Qadr Spooner has decided he would prefer to stay in Winnipeg despite an attempt by BC to pluck him off the Bomber practice roster. He has the potential to develop into a good OL.

So - not sure i understand the rules there right - but does that mean the Bombers have to dress him next game, or can the player simply decline a PR scoop by another team on his own ?

Andrew Harris is on pace to gain 1,000+ yards rushing and 900+ yards receiving. If he can pick up the pace on receiving he could become the first player ever to gain 1,000 yards in both running and receiving.

Jeff Hamilton discusses the career years Matt Nichols, who at this pace will reach 5,000 yards, Andrew Harris's great year on TSN's Winnipeg 1290 podcast below, and the Bomber's best season in many years.

University of Manitoba's Geoff Gray, who likely would have been the Bombers' first overall pick rather than its second pick (eighth overall) if he had not signed with Green Bay, looked very good in his first season game, thereby suggesting that he may not be available to Winnipeg for a long time, if ever.

He was the Packers’ top-rated guard in last week’s preseason contest, earning a +0.9 grade. Gray has three main competitors for a roster spot in Green Bay: Justin McCray, a former Tennessee Titan and Arena League player; Kofi Amichia, the Packers’ sixth-round selection of this year’s draft; and Thomas Evans, an undrafted rookie and college teammate of Eskimo offensive lineman Jacob Ruby.“Geoff Gray was the player that jumped off the tape the most,” wrote Andrew Herman, who performed the player grades.

Gray, a native of Winnipeg, issued a statement after the CFL draft saying he “would be extremely grateful to be a member of the Blue Bombers” should his football path bring him back to Winnipeg.

OC Paul LaPolice has helped the Bombers' offence achieve its highest net yardage per game since Dunnigan was its QB in 1994.

In 2002 and 2003, the Bombers had something special on offence, with Khari Jones at quarterback, Charles Roberts and Mike Sellers in the backfield and Milt Stegall and Arland Bruce catching passes.
They also had Paul LaPolice as offensive co-ordinator and in 2002, the team averaged 388.1 yards of net offence per game on the way to a 12-6 record.
As they head into a game against the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday — which will mark the midway point of the 2017 season — the Bombers are averaging 390.3 yards of net offence per game.
You have to go all the way back to 1994 — when Matt Dunigan was the quarterback of the Bombers — to find an offence that has been this productive in Winnipeg.

The Bombers are pursuing Andy Muamba, who has been released by the Los Angeles Rams this month after playing since his 2013 CFL draft year in the NFL, as a replacement for Westerman.

The Bombers have obtained a conditional 2018 draft pick by trading Brett Blaszko to the Riders. Blaszko was a BC Lions 2016 draft pick who spent last year on their PR before signing with Winnipeg this year.
