1997 Grey Cup posted on YouTube

The '96 game has been posted for some time on YouTube, but the dominant victory of the Argos over the Roughriders in 1997 has not been posted AFAIK. I don't know if anybody remembers, but the Argos actually started the game off slowly. The Riders took a 3-0 lead early and Flutie was intercepted on the first drive, but like most teams in 1997 the Roughriders were outmatched by the Argos.

Robert Drummond only played two years in Toronto (well he came back in 02), but I don't think he gets enough appreciation for just how dominant he was as a rusher and receiver. He was injured during the regular season and had he not been injured he would've had 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards receiving. It was his departure that really hurt the Argos heading into the 1998 season as they would have been much better served by a better running back that season.

Doug Flutie had so many weapons that season. This was Derrell Mitchell's rookie year and he had 1400 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns! Add Drummond, Pinball and Masotti to the mix and no wonder he threw for 5500 yards and 47 touchdowns. Mitchell is going to the hall of fame and I know people remember that Greer had 2003 yards in 1983 (in 16 games), but Mitchell caught 160 passes for 2000 yards the next year. I believe that Mitchell is in the holy trinity of Argo receivers with Greer and D.K Smith.

Robert Drummond is the best back to ever wear a Argo uniform in my days of following the team since the mid-late 70's. And you are correct Will, he doesn't get near the love that some others get.

An absolutely amazing team! I now hold the 97 Argonauts as the measuring stick of which all teams in football leagues everywhere shall be compared to! And I agree with your sentiments regarding Robert Drummond. Losing him hurt a lot and if I remember right, he chose BC because Damon Allen was a mobile quarterback and he thought he was better suited to play with someone like that.
Another great memory in this game is Adrion taking it to the house!!!

David Archer was also pretty damn good on commentary. An American born player that really loved this league.

It is a real shame that Archer came out of retirement for one last, very forgettable season in Edmonton in 1998. He should have stayed in the CBC/TSN broadcast booth as he was terrific in that role. In fact, Archer primarily worked for CBC but TSN had his services for each Friday Night Football game in 1997 (the debut of TSN's version of FNF) as they used a three person booth for those special games.

Mike Saunders was a decent talent for Saskatchewan and was a back similar to Drummond. I believe he was in Toronto earlier that season, but was stuck behind Drummond and Clemons.
