Some interesting players released by NFL teams---Marcus Ball, Cleon Laing, Henoc Muamba, Tristan Okpalaugo, Terrell Sinkfield, Chris Matthews, Rashaun Simonise (2017 CFL draft prospect) and Aaron Grimes(injured). As well there are some other intriguing prospects who could end up in the CFL. Most players will hope to be picked up by another NFL team or make the practice roster, so it may be some little while before we know if these players are available to the Argos.

We signed CB Roderick Sweeting to the PR today. He's got plenty of speed, but spent nearly all of his time on the PR during three years in the NFL.

3 new DBs added recently - interesting.

Ticats traded a QB prospect/project to the ego-Jones Riders for Canadian DB Shane Herbert recently ?

Cats have three NAT DBs injured, including Courtney Stephen. They needed someone to back up Mike Daly, or else find a new NAT starter elsewhere. Herbert is a serviceable backup.

Well, I guess Herbert does have some CFL experience if that is what they were looking for; Daly should do OK or much better at safety - looked very good IMO when he got in for an injured Butler last year and is a natural/experienced safety.

Kenty up against some dreaded "ratio problems" trying to find 7 of dem NI types to play ? I guess he could have went to Timmis or Anthony Woodson at tailback to replace an injured Gable, but that new RB Schuerman impressed me some last game.

Ticats sure have a lot of National players on their injured lists; plus a bunch of NI talent - particularly on the defensive side of the ball - that don't play on D - back-ups or special teamers or on injured lists. Some real impressive former top CIS D players : couple of former 1st round pick DTs in Gaydosh (1st overall) and Evan Gill; LBs like Plesius (CIS D player of the year), Jay Langa - another former CIS D player of the year; Ron Omara (former AUS D player of the year). Byron Archambault (Q D player of the year); Beau Landry (CIS all-star). Have to wonder if / why not some other CFL teams have not tried to pry some of these guys from the Ticats - but maybe Kenty & Tillspin are hoarding them for ever valuable "NI depth" or as future trade value ? A lot of seeming pretty decent NI defensive talent sitting on the bench or stashed on injured lists for the Ticats - but they only 2 need on D (Laurent backed up by Atkinson at DT, plus a safety), if they go with 5 NI starters on O (3 interior O-lineman, plus Fantuz and Watt or Coates at receiver)- to get to the minimum 7 NIs.

It's unfortunate that they didn't get Sinkfield. The Argos really need some help in the return game.

    Agreed.

Good news is we're done with BC this season. They play Edmonton twice and Ottawa once, so I hope he runs wild on them.

Considering the cost of living in Vancouver, was this possibly a poor monetary decision by Sinkfield?

Where do NFL cuts who sign 2-month contracts back in the CFL for the remainder of the season live? Get a deal at some hotel?

We don't know. It sounds like more than one team did try to sign him but he chose B.C.

Why would he want to come back to Toronto when he was released from Toronto after playing well?

The fact that it is only for the remainder of the season had more to do with it than anything. He wants to try the NFL again next year.

I don't remember his quality of play standing out when he was in Toronto - just that he had a ton of potential and a ridiculous 40 yard dash time. Like I said before, I would not have cut him.

He stood out for me in the preseason game at Varsity Stadium.

Yes but we got the best team in Calgary down the stretch twice and they look best in years.
Based on record and likely in reality, the 3 best teams in the league are out west.
it will be quite a shoot out in the final 6 games then the playoffs for them.
